7/25/24 6:11 AM: Good morning from Newport, where we're starting the day off at 81 degrees. Periods of showers and thunderstorms are expected today, and a few strong storms are possible posing a risk for a few damaging wind gusts. Yet again, heavy rain and flash flooding are the biggest hazard. A Flood Watch is in effect area-wide until midnight.

Q: How do I assist someone who is caught in a rip current?
A: Many people have died trying to rescue rip current victims. Here are the best ways to help:

✔️ Alert the lifeguard. If no lifeguard is available, call 911.
✔️ Yell to the victim to swim parallel to the shoreline until they escape the pull.
✔️ If possible, throw the rip current victim something that floats: a boogie board, pool float, etc.
✔️Do not enter the water and do not lose sight of the victim.

Remember, many would-be rescuers have drowned trying to help others. Don't become a victim while trying to help someone else. Know your location and call for help.

The Sea Hawk Volcano Mai Thai Martini
1oz Orange vodka 1/2oz Malibu
1oz Pineapple juice 1/2oz Amaretto
A dash of Grenadine & Roses Lime
Put in a martini shaker with ice and shake.
Add 1/2” cube sized piece of dry ice in martini glass then pour drink mix into glass.
Ta Da! 🍹 Cheers!

What these hole diggers also don’t realize is the poor lifeguards doing their last beach patrol of the evening, after a long day have to fill the holes back in! I send my boys out to help if I see this. Not cool!

🅿️ Parking on side streets in Kitty Hawk has always been a challenge. 🚓 We would prefer you use one of the 274 spaces provided at the beach accesses but we know they can be taken quickly on great beach days. 🏖 Luckily Officer Ramirez created this quick and easy visual guide! 👮

🛞 When parking along side streets be sure that ALL tires are off the roadway and that your vehicle is secure 🔒 and not blocking traffic, streets, or driveways. Please look for 👩‍🚒 fire hydrants and signage that may prohibit parking as well.
