Did the scales outside provide a pleasant fortune too, and were sodas served at a fountain bar, with leather and chrome stools? Did the souvenirs sold say “Lewiston” and was it called Fun Country, USA back then? Was parking just w***y nilly, pull in however you want and did big trees offer shade for your car? Was the film back then made by Kodak, was it developed here and did most people have a camera? What was the most common prescription, and what doctor wrote most of the orders? What gifts could you buy at a drug store, did they offer to wrap the gifts too? Is this where locals would get paregoric, epsom salts, witch hazel and mercurochrome—before they knew it had mercury? Did folks meet neighbors here, find a magazine or boys buy a model car kit? Was it busy from open to close, did those scales stay out after hours? Old photos give glimpses of life long ago, of things we forgot we’ve forgotten. Memories forever cherished. In Lewiston, Pure Lewiston.
