Glenn Schafer, of Saint Paul, Minnesota, is the artist-in-residence at Red Barn Studio Museum September 3-15.
Visitors can expect to see images of ordinary everyday life alongside evocative lines of poetry. The goal is to evoke personal memories and create random connections through these visual and literary pieces.

Today we welcomed the Highway Geology Symposium for lunch at Coronado Heights! This group traveled to Lawrence from all across the US, Canada, and the UK, making their way through the Flint Hills this morning to enjoy the Tallgrass Prairie National Preserve and the beauty of Coronado Heights.

Smoky Valley Historical Association has, again, provided a fabulous program tonight. Talented craftsman and contractor, Brian Freeman, shared the story of the Malm stencils, an important Lindsborg historical find. Brian then demonstrated their use. Stunning. History and restoration fans take note! Tonight at 7:30pm, the Smoky Valley Historical Association - Kansas is proud to have Brian Freeman share the history of G.N. Malm's stencils. This opportunity includes a detailed brief history, visual examples, physical examples (protected authentic originals), a live demonstration using a replica of an original design, and a question and answer time.
Freeman has been an historic preservation contractor for over 30 years and launched his career in the Denver, Colorado area where he restored everything from churches to restaurants to residential homes. You've seen his and his crew's work all over Lindsborg, including the Blacksmith Coffee Shop & Roastery and currently The Good Merchant
Freeman is excited to share with you the history of these stencils, how he and his wife acquired them, and how he and his crew are continuing the Malm legacy by incorporating the stencils into his preservation projects.
Messiah Evangelical Lutheran Church in Lindsborg, KS's Fellowship Hall is the location for this presentation at 402 N. First Street. Please enter in the east door on the north side of the building.

Have you noticed the Vรคlkommen Bridge? She received a little facelift! Thanks to Kyler Craine's perseverance and skills, there is a new lighting system on the bridge. Thanks to Gretchen Elliott's and Riley Ahstedt's artistic talent, there are new signs. Such a great example of the collective talent of Lindsborg being carried into the next generation! The bridge lighting was Kyler's senior project. While he and his teacher, Zack Vogel, were completing the project, they noticed the signs needed to be replaced. Enter Gretchen and Riley!
