Custom A-frame in the White Mountains

We're entering anniversary season here at the Acute Abode!

It's been just over a year since construction was completed and on this weekend last year we spent our first nights in the Acute Abode over Memorial Day weekend. While it was a great feeling and so exciting to do so, it was definitely NOT relaxing as we spent the entire time decorating, building furniture, and getting everything just right. We did snap this picture which shows how relaxing it COULD be for your stay 😂. We hope this Memorial Day weekend was more the latter for you!

Flash forward to today we've hosted over 60 groups and 300 guests and you all seem to really love it! The feedback has been overwhelming positive and we love to read each one of the 47 reviews we've gotten to date....keep them coming!

Rook tried so hard to sit and wait for her treat while I took a picture but eventually had to grab it and take it away to the living room to protect it from the rest of us (like we'd ever steal one of her treats 😜)

Make sure to stop by when you're in town with your pup to get some treats!

All the 5 star reviews are great (and we love getting those!) but it's so awesome when we go for a visit of our own and see real life evidence that prior guests have enjoyed their time. We have seen multiple snowmen, tracks to the fire pit, and countless sled lines in the hill around the property (caution: they are steep so go at your own risk).

We love creating memories at the Acute Abode and get so excited at the thought that others are as well! What memories do you love creating while on vacation?

When in town, Polly's Pancake Parlor is a must for a delicious breakfast. The special pancake batter is always something fun to try (carrot cake today) to go along with the usually favorite of gingerbread with chocolate chips

And if the pancakes aren't incentive enough, there's hot chocolate with whipped cream and sprinkles ftw

Today marks 3 years since we first put eyes on the piece of land that would eventually become the Acute Abode.

As newbies to construction it was a whirlwind and long and crazy experience but we couldn't be happier with how things turned out and we might even do it again if the right opportunity presented itself.

We had a great time skiing at Bretton Woods this past weekend but as the work week starts, the adults are paying for exercising those rarely used muscles while the kids are begging to go back. We'll be back soon!

Some much needed snow and lower temperatures the past couple days has the Acute Abode looking mighty fine with the white background. Can't wait to get up there soon and hit the slopes!

Superhost status achieved!

And just 3 months in!

We're so happy to have received such positive feedback from all of our lovely guests so far and thankful that (literally) years of planning has come to fruition and everyone seems to be enjoying the results of our vision.

We'll continue to work hard to make little upgrades and improvements here and there but are so happy with how everything has been going so far!

Security cameras aren't the best for leaf peeping but if the poor angle / low resolution looks this good you can imagine how amazing it must be in real life!

The Acute Abode has been booked solid (great problem to have) but we're hoping we can squeeze in professional pics next week to catch some amazing shots from around the property.

We heard it's so had to share a few of our 2yo pup Rook enjoying the good life at the Acute Abode.

Reminder that we are dog friendly for up to 2 dogs who are registered in advance. We're glad to be one of the few Airbnb's in the area to offer this and appreciate all the good dogs and good dog owners who behave well and keep the Acute Abode in great shape during their stay.

How great are our friends? This weekend we finally finished building the A Frame set our friends got us last month as a house warming gift! So cool right?

It's been years since I put together a Lego set and it was great reliving my youth for a little bit here and there. Also got SO much help from the kids after they claimed they were gonna build the whole thing 😂😂😂

Attached to the primary bedroom is your own private bathroom with a vessel sink, floor to ceiling black penny tile, and a rainfall shower head.

We hate not being able to bring our dog on vacation but we also know sometimes pets get nervous in new surroundings if the owners have to go out without them.

With that in mind, when we designed the house we made sure to include a space just for them. Secure enough to provide peace of mind but large enough for them to not feel cramped.

Do you think your 4 legged friend would like snuggling up here while you grab dinner in Littleton?

Did you know we actually built two A-frames? This one is a bit smaller and doesn't have any amenities like plumbing or electrical but it does "house" over a cord of firewood. It was also a lot cheaper 😂

Eventually we'll add some landscaping around it and a nice walkway from the house but this is a good start to kickoff summer!

Last week was a big one for us. We finally closed on our construction loan for the cabin.

That means we’re one step closer to actually breaking ground 🎉

As winter has now changed into spring and the last of the snow is finally melting, it is officially mud season in the mountains.

We’re using this time to finalize decisions and doing boring things like get our mortgage squared away before we can break ground.

Today marks one year since we closed on our property, and we’re finally seeing some glimpses of hope that breaking ground may be just around the corner. We’re currently waiting to close on our construction loan 🤞🏼🤞🏼

Our ideal cabin life? Relaxing by the firepit, sipping , and playing a card game after a long day of exploring nature. It can’t come soon enough!

The littlest ones in the family are certainly excited about some of our plans for the build. Currently we have plans to build a bunk room for the kids and a game room in the basement, and it’s all they want to talk about.

We get it. Bunk beds are truly the coolest when you’re a kid.

We had some very cute but not to be messed with guests overnight.
