When is the best time to travel to Europe? That depends on your travel style and your availability to travel. For me, off season is best, called low or shoulder season, which means early spring (late March-early May) or Sept-early Nov). Although I like meeting people, I don't like mingling in crowds.

As a kid, I got lost among the crowd at a Chicago parade. I thought I'd never see my mother again but she found me. In my 30s, I got trapped in an art gallery with a celebrity after escaping from a mob of fans. No crowd control abilities, I paniced...again until we were rescued. Those traumic experiences have kept me away from crowded situations that I can't control or feel safe around.

I usually like having a city that I'm visiting all to myself. Plus, the airfares, hotels, and some sites are less pricey. I don't have to wait in long lines or buy skip the line tickets to see them. Navigating a city where the crowds are less makes for a more enjoyable travel experience for me. But some travelers don't seem to mind the crowds. Bravo to them.

If you have to travel during high season (late May-early Sept), just plan wisely and be prepared to face those crowds. Also, try not to go to the most touristy spots too late in the day and don't eat at tourists restaurants close to attractions. Those are money traps and the food is usually just fair. The earlier you get out to explore a city the better for beating the crowds. Eat where the locals eat, off the beaten tourist path where the food is much better.

During high season it's best to get VIP access to attractions. These tickets will save you a lot of time not waiting in line, 'cause you'll go to the front of the line and enter before the crowds. The cost is worth it to avoid the wait.
Plan well in advance 6-9 months prior to your planned departure, you'll find the better and least exoensive deals for air, hotel or vacation rental. If you'll be traveling by train throughout Europe, get your tickets in advance.

Travel planning can be a real chore. To get the best value for your money and the best travel advice, I will always recommend that you find a seasoned travel agent to hrlp plan your vacations. If anything goes wrong along the way, your travel agent will help to resolve any issues you may encounter.

Oh, and most importantly, get travel insurance. The cost is low, your US medical insurance will not cover your medical costs outside the states. If you're severly injured have to be evacuated back home, those costs can be astronomical, hundreds of thousands of dollars. Travel insurance will cover your evacuation. Make sure you read the policy you are buying before purchasing. There is also coverage for pre-existing medical issues. Talk to your travel agent, then have a great trip.

Bon Voyage!

I think about traveling all of the time. If, I had the time, I'd travel all the time. I could be a nomad for a minute, but I like stability and having a place to land that is my own. Just to recharge. I imagine what I'd do if I won the lottery. Maybe buy my own Jet.

Seriously tnough, I know I would set up scholarships for deserving teens with interests in history, anthropology, the arts, and social studies, so they could travel on tour to different countries and explore this world. I think about the kids who never leave their neighborhoods and may never explore the cities where they live let a lone another state.

I thank my family for instilling that wanderlust in us kids. We were road trippers in those early days of car caravans hitting the highway to visit family in other states, go sightseeing or drive across the country to go to a World's Fair. We went to three. If not for my family's love of traveling, my only adventures would have been vicariously through the books I read about far off places I only imagined visiting.

My daughter had an opportunity to travel to Europe for a month visiting 11 or so countries. She was thirteen. That experience gave her a different perspective on life and about the world outside of the USA. She wasn't afraid to travel and still loves traveling. I truly believe we should give our children the gift of travel at an early age. Those memories are personal, precious, and nothing compares to your travel experiences whether near or far.

I'd also help struggling single parents get on their feet, maybe get an education that would help change their lives tremendously and send them on a trip with their kids to both enjoy the vacation. I can think of so many ways to contribute, pass it forward to help others. Of course aftereards, I'd travel a lot til my bucket list had nothing left to check off.

Travel is transformative and inspiring. I'm inspired to travel so I can write about my journeys and share them on my travel blog.

Living in Los Angeles you forget how many places and iconic sites there are to see and visit. I will share many of those places some often missed by visitors to Southern California. Now that I've hung up my travel agent hat, I can act like a tourist.
Most people visit Beverly Hills only to see Rodeo Drive, but surrounding this small city are many surprises that should not be missed.

When you think about doing fun or unique activities for Halloween, you don't have to travel very far from home for these types of experiences. It's as easy as going to local theme parks that hold annual Horror events for Halloween around this time of year.

For instance, in Los Angeles, Knotts Berry Farm, Magic Mountain, and Universal Studios all have some sort of haunted house type attractions. Many other companies provide scary themes as well. You can always Google Haunted Halloween activities.

Costume popup stores like Spirit or Spencers or simply going online to find your specific outfit for any Halloween party or event. Go trick or treating with the grandkids. Use this time to act like a kid yourself.

West Hollywood welcomes people dressed in costumes to roam the streets, party hardy, hang out in the bars, and just have fun parading up and down the streets with other like minded folks on Halloween. This costume display of various characters, locals, marching down the boulevard was once a big thing in Hollywood years ago but those big, loud, fun filled festivities moved west of La Brea into WEHO.

I've been known to dress up too. Who knows maybe I will wear some ghoulish makeup and put on a crazy costume this Halloween just for kicks. You, we, are never too old to have silly fun. Fun has no age limit and no expiration. So get out there with the youngsters and enjoy all the many experiences offered near and around you in your own backyard.

HAPPY HALLOWEEN!

The Sound of 007 documentary is now on Prime Video. The history of all the music and the movies. Many film clips...this is very well done.

Origins and the people involved in creating the Bond theme songs from Dr. NO to No Time To Die. Magical! You will love it.

If you're a music and a Bond buff, you'll enjoy this documentary. Love it!

Fall is here. This is a great time to travel. Prices are usually lower and the crowds are less in popular destinations. I enjoy traveling more during fall, winter, and early spring. I can do without the crowds which enhances the experiences of any journey.

I have so little time right now to post as often as I'd like. Looking forward to the day when my life will literally slow down to a snails pace.
I am working on getting my travel blog up and running. There are so many parts to manage for that blog process. I am hopeful I will get there too. I thought it would be up in August but that timeline has passed. Doing my best with this juggling act just to stay focused on all of my work related and personal projects.

Not complaining, just reflecting. In time!

It's soooo HOT! Wish I could meet the genius who invented soft serve ice cream. What did humans do before ice was invented? Right now, I'm so thankful for my air conditioner.

I am not traveling anywhere until this weather cools down worldwide. SMH!

Can someone please turn off the heat? Crank up the air conditioner. Global warming, I loathe you.

My French proficiency is at level A2-B1. And I'm beginning to comprehend French speakers. This is not an easy language to learn but I 'm glad I took the challenge. It helps me that my daughter is fluent in French and can assist me with words, phrases, and pronounciations. You are never too old to learn a new language. Just have to be willing to try.

If you want to beat jet lag after a long flight, I have some advice. But first you should know there's an App for that. I'm not kidding. Before I share this App, I'll share how I have survived and conquered jet lag after 22 hour flights.

Whenever I'm visiting a destination that takes five hours or more to arrive at, I look for a red eye flight so I can arrive the next morning. Even though I'll try to sleep on the plane usually I can't sleep on five or six hour flights. If the flight is more than 8 hours, then I try to sleep for a few hours. Try!

Once I arrive at my destination, I'll stay active and awake during the day so my body can get into the rythym of the new time zone I'm in. I'll eat a good light breakfast but not anything that will make me sluggish. If I'm with a group, we'll have a full schedule on day one and no time for napping. I like to have a schedule too when I'm traveling solo, but its flexible and I can do what I want.

If you can stay active, you will not feel tired or want to nap. By the time you get back to your hotel at the end of the day just before dinner, you won't be tempted to take a nap. Take a shower instead then go to dinner. Sleeping that first night at night will help you defeat jet lag. No naps before 8pm. I have the App but haven't used it yet. I will use it on my next trip to see how well it works and let you know.

In the meantime, The App that will help you time shift is called TimeShifter created by an astronaut. Download it to your phone from the App store. Try it and let me know if it helps.

Happy Journeys!

I plan to use my travel expertise not to sell travel anymore but to write about travel. I've written some posts about my travels on a blog years ago. I look forward to writing more indepth content about the places I've visited and places I'll be going to visit. It's difficult to find time to start writing and only get half way through a story, article, or essay. I've had so many starts and just left writings unfinished. I have to finish them, so I can share my wonderful often unique adventures on my new blog.

Still too much going on in my crazy life. I've half slowed down but not enough to my liking. Getting closer. Need more open spaces and nature and definitely a slower pace for sure.

I'm almost retired. Looking forward to full retirement where I'll have plenty of time to write without distractions. I'm also looking forward to writing an article or two in French about my quest to learn and comprehend French during the pandemic. Such a journey! Life is full of them.

WHAT'S NEW AND CHANGING Greetings Agents, What's new and changing in 2022? Well, it has been two long years since we went into Covid-19 Purgatory in March 2020. Often, it was a living hell with all the frustration and changes to the travel industry. Like many, the cancellations, postponements, and efforts to rebook trips took a major toll on my mental soul. ...

Due to Covid-19, we have experienced all the frustration and changes to the travel industry since March 2020 and over the last two years.

01/20/2022

Although I've retired from the travel industry as a travel advisor, I will keep this page active for sharing my personal travel tips and trips, and as a way to link you to my future travel and vintage lifestyle Blog and Vlog. Of course, my current travel plans for early 2022 have been put on hold until we get a handle on this newest Covid-19 variant, Omnicron.

I hope to share my unique global journeys and other plans I have in store. So, stay tuned for more interesting information about what I have been planning to do in the near future, my new adventures and more. Excited!

I've retired from the travel industry as an advisor. Although I will no longer be selling travel, I will still travel. I'll never be a tourist though. I'm a traveler seeking more than just seeing sights and I'll be writing about my journeys. You will be able to follow my travel blog posts. I'll post the links to my blog on this page. I've postponed my upcoming trips due to omnicon but I am confident that we will be able to travel as scheduled. At least I'm hopeful!

Off on a new adventure. Traveling is still my passion, but being an advisor is no more. Stay tuned!

Can you believe we are into the holidays, and the New Year is around the corner?

TRAVEL NEWS EUROPE - The EU decision that FULLY VACCINATED individuals are free to travel without restrictions by showing proof of vaccination and a negative Covid test done at least 72 hours prior to departure. Travelers with children that are too young to be inoculated are still free to travel as long as a negative test is provided.

For unvaccinated travelers some European countries are requesting entrance with a negative test and 5 days quarantine in isolation which will be monitored by the local health department. This rule applies to USA and Canada and it may continue to change.

FYI: Approximately 70% of the adult European population is full vaccinated.

08/15/2021

And so it begins. I received two notices about traveling to other countries during this pandemic.

The Government of Turks & Caicos is imposing new entry requirements effective 1 September 2021. Preliminary details from the Ministry of Health are as follows:

All visitors, aged 16 years of age and above, must be "fully vaccinated". Fully vaccinated means that the person has received 2 doses of an approved COVID-19 vaccine and 14 days has elapsed since the second dose.

France is now issuing a pass sanitaire (safety pass) for all visitors coming into the country. You will have to be fully vaccinated. Of course there are protests which have not stopped the issuance of those passes. Proof of vaccination is required.

07/17/2021

This new Delta varient of the virus may put a damper on 2021 travel plans. I'm disappionted that we have to roll back the restrictions clock due to those who refuse to get vaccinations or wear masks. Thanks for being a potential host, and contributing more to the worldwide public health crisis instead of adopting the solution we have to eradicate Covid-19. Thanks for your oversight and selfishness. Thanks for your non-support of our front line workers who risk their lives everyday, work tired and tirelessly.

If these particular non-conformist would read and actually do some research, they would know that global mobilization for vaccinations is not new. Since the early 1950's, when Jonas Saulk created the Polio Vaccine which eradicated that disease worldwide and then Smallpox was pretty much eliminated too, we've had mass vaccinations globally. Back then no one complained because everyone realized how important it was to fight that pandemic. I remember as a child taking that single sugar cube laced with the vaccine. I also remember seeing the crippling effects of those who did not get the vaccine or who got the disease before the vaccine was introduced. If you were a child of the 50s, 60s, 70s, you received a mandatory battery of vaccines or you could not go to school without proof of having them. Not much has changed on that front. Most non vaccers have been vaccinated at some time in their lives.

Plagues and pandemics have been around since the 6th Century when there were no cures and people perished in the streets. In the late 1800s, science was evolving with studies of micro organisims, bacterium, and viruses. Varieties of Penicillin was invented to fight certain bacterias. Lots of unvaccinated people today have taken penicillin but won't get a shot. Makes no sense. I can continue with these comparisons but there is no need to point out the inconsistencies of their reasoning or irrationalities. Vaccines work!

No matter what the excuse anyone comes up with, its inexcusable to not get the vaccine. Only allergies to the vaccine comes to mind which may prevent it but unlikely, then wear a mask or stay home because you will be more vunerable to contracting this virus and then sharing it. No thanks! So don't argue with the rest of us vaccinated souls about getting shots and wearing masks, we're doing what's right for us, our friends, family, and the whole of society, if not the world.

It's inconceiveable to think that people who live in developed countries don't take advantage of a treatment to cure and offered to prevent a disease. That their judgement is so clouded by ridiculous conspiracy theories, unfounded fears, subborness, belief of immunity, or lack of awareness as to how the vaccine works, and actually what it contains and what it doesn't as to be more informed about its effectiveness. Most cures have small side effects, nothing is 100% but I'll take 95% effectiveness over 0%.

Sometimes a little common sense goes a long way. In the beginning, I was at a point where I felt, okay you don't want the vaccine, personal decision, "you do you" even though I knew with my military medical training that it wasn't. A public health crisis is serious, it can morph into so much more as we've seen by this pandemic. As the vaccine rolled out, infection cases went down because our immune systems went into overdrive to fight the virus.

Therefore, the virus could not multiple in vaccinated people who may be infected, so it mutated and found a more suitable host. Yes, vaccinated people can still get Covid, but our now healthier targeted immune systems will fight the virus better. The majority of us won't end up on respirators or spent weeks in a hospital.

Now, I'm at the point of saying, you doing you is starting to affect those of us who were smart enough to get vaccinated and the young children who can't get vaccinated. You have now become a possible host, and a real threat to the rest of us much more than this deadly virus. Heartless, selfish and just no moral compass. I hope you don't get this virus. I've seen the devastation it costs families so unneccesarily. Have seen the covid deaths up close and personal because people didn't think it would effect them and did not wear masks. They were not well informed and they would not listen to the knowledgeable members of our scientific or medical communities.

I don't know anyone who contracts cancer that would not line up if a cure was offered today. People put chemically laidened junk food in their bodies everyday, read the ingredients on that package of whatever processed food you've just grabbed off your grocerier's shelf. Do you know anything about those chemicals? What about the soft drinks and juices you're ingesting on a daily basis? All much more harmful than any vaccine. Rationalize that!

Actually, you non-vaccers are violating our human rights to live safely and healthy, you are becoming a public menance. The CDC has just declared that this is now a pandemic of the unvaccinated. Sadly, that statement is true. Let's all hope those unvaccinated reconsider the risks and "do the right thing" for humanity.
We can't conquer this virus without all of you.
Hopes and wishes so we can get back to normal. So we can travel again. So we can live!

Now that travel is beginning, let's think about planning our golfing vacations for 2021 and 2022. I can think of some awesome courses far from home that may interest you. Destination Golf, playing on icon courses, and touring the cities where they are located. Bring along your spouses whether they play or not, we have a mound of activities planned for them too. 05/30/2021

If you travel a lot then you know that you have to do your research. Most importantly, you have to understand and familiarize yourself with the rules of travel whether from airlines, cruise lines, tour operators, hotels, car or house/condo rentals, or resorts. Every travel entity has their rules that we must follow if we want to use or cintinue to use these services.

Travelers, although we have certain passenger rights, we must also follow the established rules by the travel industry as a whole which are mostly designed to keep us all safe, or as safe as possible, and to keep situations orderly. Also, these rules create a mutual respect and an understanding of these terms and conditions.

Travelers who are not aware of these rules are the first to break them which puts all other passengers or travelers at risk. When I see or read reports about passengers behaving badly on airplanes, at resorts or while touring, I'm disappointed and surprised by the thoughtless actions of these less informed adults.

Yes, it is a Federal offense to disrupt a flight, fight with flight crews, refuse to take direction from flight crews or just become combative and unruly. Assulting anyone is offensive and you could be liable civilally and/or criminally depending on severity, but attacking flight attendents, flight crew, TSA, and gate attendents at airports will automatically get you arrested, charged with a felony, a heffy fine, and possible jail time depending on the nature of the offense. Consequences for not following the rules. This is why it pays to know the rules.

Nowadays, people seem to have an adversity to rules, regulations, and authority, especially in public settings. I just can't wrap my head around this unneccesary behavior. I mean, as kids, most of us were taught about rules and why they exist and why as good citizens we must follow them. We teach our children these same rules. As we grow and go out into the world we learn that there are many more rules.

So, I don't understand the problem or why people have a difficult time following the simplest of rules. Without a value system that includes respect, consideration, and kindness then we are back to the lawless wild wild west. I certainly don't want to go back to those times.
Those who think that certain rules effect their civil rights, really don't understand the constitution. Most rules have nothing to do with rights but with public safety. I want to feel moderately safe when I travel.

In my opinion, people who can't behave themselves while traveling probably shouldn't travel or should actually learn about the rules and etiquettes required to be a good and smart traveler. Having a meltdown on an airplane is the kind of tantrum I'd expect from a child not from an adult. Education is very important, so read about the rules so you will know what is expected of you and what happens to you if you violate those rules.

My advise as a travel advisor is if you travel for leisure or business, please leave your bad behavior and nasty attitudes at home. The rest of us are not interested in your drama. We don't like having our flights disrupted or delayed because you choose to be an idiot and a jackass. Show some maturity. Growup!

The rest of us on our journeys are only interested in getting to our specific destinations to experience fun, family, friends, rest, lots of relaxation, and good, not tainted, memories. Let's travel smart and safe!
