This Saturday, June 1st is the Country Music Highway Tribute Show in DT Russell. Russell is also celebrating their 150th Anniversary. We can’t wait for you to see what is planned. Below is the music schedule. At 10:30am will be a time capsule ceremony. At 11:00am the Russell Choir will start things off for us. There will be vendors, food trucks, inflatables, horse and carriage ride, train rides and touch a truck for our kids. Let’s not forget about our storefronts and existing restaurants. They will be ready for you to check out their amazing stores. This event is free!! Come join the fun and listen to this amazing music line up.

A series of solar flares and coronal mass ejections have created dazzling auroras that may be seen as far south as Alabama and Northern California — but could also disrupt communications on Earth tonight and over the weekend.

The ongoing geomagnetic storm is now "extreme," or level 5 out of 5, the Space Weather Prediction Center said Friday night. This is the first G5-level storm since October 2003.

Increased solar activity causes auroras that dance around Earth’s poles, known as the northern lights (aurora borealis) and southern lights (aurora australis). When the energized particles reach Earth’s magnetic field, they interact with gases in the atmosphere to light up the sky with different colors.

👉 Here are some tips to capture images of the northern lights with your smartphone, courtesy of the Iceland tourism board (It knows a thing or two about the aurora):

Adjust your exposure time: The longer, the better.

Keep your camera still: Prop your phone on a stable surface (or use a tripod) to get crisper images.

Use manual focus: If you can, lock your focus to infinity.

Shoot in RAW: If your camera allows you to. This format can capture more details.

According to NOAA, you might be able to capture the aurora with your phone even if you can't see them with your naked eye.
