Congratulations to the Brooklyn College Department of Chemistry!
The American Chemical Society is honoring the department with the Stanley C. Israel Regional Award for Advancing Diversity in the Chemical Sciences for their long-standing dedication to the ACS core values of diversity, equity, inclusion and respect in the classroom, the research laboratories and the community.
Roughly 25% of the Brooklyn College chemistry graduates come from underrepresented groups and progress to top-tier Ph.D. programs and medical schools. Fully half the faculty are women, and the percentage of faculty from underrepresented groups is three times the national average. Their scholarship, teaching and outreach programs engage with the highly diverse population of the 4th largest city in America.
