TRAFFIC ADVISORY FOR CARIBBEAN CYCLING CHAMPIONSHIP CYCLE RACE

Please be informed that on the 2nd & 3rd November 2024 the National Cycling Federation Caribbean Cycling Championship will be held along the East Bank Corridor as follows:

1. The Time Trial commences at 09:00 hrs on November 2 and concludes at 11:00 hrs based on a strict schedule run by the organizers. This event is held exclusively along the Mandela Avenue to Eccles Interlink to Heroes Highway stretch of the road network.

2. The road race in Sunday, November 3rd, from Silver Hill to Harpy Eagle Roundabout.
Both events have implications for the movement of people, goods and services. Hence, the GCF leadership has been informed to ensure effective time management for delays, which will result in the pre-identified time for conclusions and not an extension.

The following traffic arrangements will be put in place on both days from 08:30hrs to 11:30hrs to facilitate this event.
 Diamond Access Road & Heroes Highway- No entry East
 Diamond Access Road & 2nd Street- No entry East
 Diamond Access Road & Mocha Police Station Corner- No entry East
 Diamond Access Road & Mocha Access Road- No entry East
 Mocha Access Road & Windsor Estate Road- No Entry East (Vehicles heading to Mocha will be accommodated)
 Windsor Estate Road & Greenfield Road- No entry East
 Red Road and Windsor Estate Road- No entry East
 Red Road & Access Road west of Heroes Highway- No Entry East
 Eccles Dumpsite Road and 1st corner west of Jaguar Roundabout- No entry East
 Vehicles proceeding West on Red Road will only be allowed to proceed west across Heroes Highway.
 Vehicles proceeding West out of Mocha Access Road will only be allowed to proceed West across Heroes Highway.
 Vehicles proceeding West on Heroes Highway from 21st Avenue to the approach of Anteater Roundabout will only be allowed to proceed further west to Diamond Access Road.
 Vehicles proceeding South on Mandela Avenue will not be allowed to go further South onto the Mandela Interlink.
 Vehicles proceeding West on Aubrey Barker Road will continue further West or North along Mandela Avenue. No entry South along the Mandela Interlink Road.
 Vehicles will not be allowed East or West across the Heroes Highway on the Rome/Gafoors access road.
 No Entry North or South along the Mandela to Eccles Interlink.

It is paramount that the participants and other categories of road users exercise care and caution during the races. The Traffic Department of Guyana Police Force will like to appeal to all road users to adhere to the traffic arrangements, utilise the alternate routes for travel and observe all Traffic Laws and Regulations.

Safety Cars, accompanying team members or non-participants in the actual competition will not be allowed to impede the flow of the race. They must comply with the directions of the police and desist from driving or using the road in any manner dangerous to other road users and the participants. Any failure to comply with directions given by the police will result in appropriate action taken, and delays owing to poor organisation will be addressed promptly.

Motor Lorry owners and drivers are urged to utilise the East Bank Public Road until the Heroes Highway reopens.
