Our Story
Monica Lopez has been a professional architect for more than 28 years. Her extensive portfolio includes publicly-funded housing, schools, residential and commercial renovations, and private apartment developments.
She is a LEED-certified accredited professional (LEED AP), a registered architect in New York State, and a member of the American Institute of Architects (AIA) and the National Council of Architectural Registration Boards (NCARB). Her firm is a certified Women-Owned Business Enterprise (WBE).
Prior to establishing her own firm in 2012, Monica worked for 12 years as a project manager and associate under the direction of the award-winning architect Warren Gran—a Fellow of the AIA with over 40 years of experience, who served on the New York City Landmarks Preservation Committee and was known for his impeccable business approach and talented design. Warren Gran was Monica’s mentor and advisor, and a major influence on her practice and professional ethics. People often refer to Monica as the “keeper” of his spirit and his approach to public work.
Monica began her career as an architectural project manager in her native Colombia, where she was responsible for all design phases—conception through completion—for projects including an industrial park, a health center, high-rise multi-family residences, and single family homes.
She has a bachelor’s degree in architecture from the Universidad Pontificia Bolivariana, where she graduated with honors and received the Best Students Faculty of Architecture award.
