She has led more than 500 art tours in the past 12 years and has lived in New York City for 34 years. She enjoys art in any locale, from a Chelsea gallery to an outdoor sculpture park, from the altar of a church to the galleries of a major museum. Emily studied for her masters in art history at The City University of New York/Hunter College. Her MA research focused on the use of codes and symbols to signal an interest in homosexuality by the Magic Realists, a group of American artists who worked at the middle of the 20th century. Emily graduated from Stanford University with a bachelor’s degree in economics and American history. Esteemed by guides, educators and visitors around the world, Emily, a former journalist, is a researcher par excellence who is equally at home with Ancient Egypt and contemporary art. Emily is also a poet who hears the world in rhyme, a skill she discovered in fifth grade. As a New York City public school teacher, Emily taught eighth-grade math for one year almost exclusively in impromptu rap; her students' standardized test scores skyrocketed. Today, Emily deploys her talent to whip up clues about the art on view in New York City museums, making Heart of the Art scavenger hunt parties a visual and aural delight!
