They spent some time talking about what to do with the "other" dining room that had basically become storage over the last few years. While John said he would help bring it back to life with some fresh paint, Orlando set off to thinking of what the people of Norfolk would like to see and be a part of. In the process renovating, we found some old butcher block and had a friend, we call him Chia fo
r short, help restore and create a bar area. Originally we thought "this would be a great room for our regular customers to wait while we cleared tables on busy nights. Then we had another thought. "Wouldn't it be nice to be able to come to a place that takes you away from the hum-drum and everyday hustle of life where you could just "get away and relax for even an hour without the intrusion of the outside world, be comfortable and yet still feel a part of something enjoyable and have fun at the same time?" A place where you could sit back and relax with a glass or a bottle of wine, some light snacks and listen to jazz or blues..Something like a "beautiful distraction" as Norah Jones would say. We now have over 100 different wines,20 different beers and some really yummy snacks to go them. Now all we needed was a name for this new room. Thus, Alisia set out to find the perfect name for Orlando's "getaway" and came up with Orlando's Diversion. We would like to thank all those who helped foster and motivate our dream into a reality, especially, John, Jackie, Jeff, Aunt Ellen, Mr. Tony Loiercio, Amy Waters Yarsinke, our awesome staff at the Veneziano, Cousin Frankie Chia Pet and his beautiful wife Jamie and their friends who came out and helped too, and Candy and Bill Agreste. But most importantly, we want to thank our customers who so gladly welcomed the idea and helped spread the word....Come join us and enjoy a little Diversion in your life too....
