The house is restored to help recognize the life and accomplishments of John McLoughlin, "Father of Oregon." The McLoughlin House Site is open Friday and Saturday from 10:00 a.m. The Barclay House is open to the public from 10:00 am to 4:00 pm. The McLoughlin House is available by free tour at 10:15 am, 11:15 am, 12:15 pm, 1:15 pm, 2:15 pm, and 3:15 pm; tours begin at the Barclay House.

One of McLoughlin's letters. Cross-writing was common during times when paper was scarce, with some letters written on in three directions. This particular letter was written in two directions - horizontal and vertical.

This wonderful photo c. 1910, is part of a larger photo in a series taken during a visit by several family members. Here, Harley Stevens Sr. allows his Uncle Leroy to sit at the wheel of his REO. Uncle Leroy is Captain Medorem Crawford's youngest brother and the only one of the 5 siblings to never move West. He did, however, visit often. We'll share more of the photos from this series as well as others from the Stevens Collection, and introduce you to this interesting family.
