⚠️ Ultra Rare ⚠️ Ya'll this is a first for me! Earlier in the week I found a sea urchin, and while it was in the critter box it released its gametes!! Urchins and other echinoderms ( sea stars and sand dollars) are brood spawners. Meaning when the time is right, they release their sperms and egg into the water. Once in the water they hope their gametes mix, and if they do where they land a baby is formed. Want to learn more about our local marine life?

⚠️ What an epic find ⚠️ We got to see a southern sting ray that survived a shark attack. Sting rays are some of sharks favorite food and their only protection is their barbed tail. This sting ray escaped the encounter but lost its tail and is a little beat up. We took some photos and let it rest so it hopefully heals up.

Weekly water update! Water is 82° and we're seeing PINK dolphins! Check out these photos of the pink on these dolphins. It's believed that when dolphins are hot they cool their body down by a process called vasodialation. Its in this process that they move blood through their body and it shows pink through the skin! We never know what we'll see on our adventures!

This morning 🦈... " Capt. Chris, did you see the sharks right next to you ? " Nope, I did not lol. Its their world and we're here hanging out with them. In all my experiences with shark they have been quite docile and occasionally inquisitive. Never know what we'll see!

⚠️New critter Alert ⚠️ We are running trips daily ( weather permitting) and what a week it's been! We've seen Alligators, dolphins, sharks, crabs, but I'm so excited to share with yall 2 new critters seen this week that are here locally. The first one being the snapping or pistol shrimp ! The pistol shrimp is known for the sound it makes when snapping it's claw together.... it's been documented to snapping at over 60MPH! The next critter is the sea cucumber, the most spectacular one ( my opinion) the chocolate chip sea cucumber ! Sea cucumbers are related to sea stars and sand dollars and help filter the sand. Have yall ever seen a sea cucumber up close....super interesting creature.

Weekly water update coming at you from on shell island right now!! 82° water and calm! Summer heat is in full swing and we have been seeing a bunch of spotted eagle rays! Named for their white spots, these majestic rays can reach 10 ft or more in width and one of the few animals known to eat sea urchins in our bay. You never know what you'll "sea" out here!

Today we learned about the Oyster Toad Fish! These fish live in holes and have teeth that crush open oysters! This guy was living in a giant welk shell, we snapped a few photos and put them back.

Weekly water update! Water is 81° Woohoo, and with the warming water we're seeing manatees!

This was an absolute first for me and us as we got a chance to witness a manatee sleeping here on the beach!!! Fun fact about manatees is they sleep on the bottom and come up for breaths. They may take up to 20 minutes apart and then go back down. We got to witnesses this on a trip yesterday! This manatee averaged about 4-5 minutes and was incredible to see its sleeping process.

Shout out to Anchor Charters for letting us know this gentle giant was sleeping! What a Flippin Awesome Experience!
