Ridinger Lake-The making of a childhood

Ridinger Lake-The making of a childhood This page is to share memories about Ridinger Lake and the Summers we all shared growing up. It would be amazing to see what everyone is doing now.

I first started thinking about a page when Kathleen posted about the memories she had of the summers at Ridinger Lake. I have long wanted to have a reunion of all the people who spent their childhood and teen years at the lake. We all have stories to share and experiences we have cherished into our adult lives.

It’s been a minute since I have posted on this page but Yesterday was an very wonderful but sad day and worth a share! One of the ladies from my childhood who was like a second mom and mentor passed away. She has lived at Ridinger Lake for as long as my 59 year old brain can remember. A Memorial for Nancy Stoddard was held by her beautiful children, Special thoughts and prayers to Kim, Mark, and Kelly and their families. It really was Celebration of life and a mini reunion of several childhood friends from Ridinger Lake who came and shared love and support! Seeing these people and sharing stories was good medicine for the family! I have posted a photo (sorry for the loud whistle/ it was rather rude) can anyone from this generation name them?

According to my memories Kevin - the Rings and Saillants were Ridingers version of the Hatfields and McCoys. I think it started when Rings wanted to close the beach road and but a barrier up!!? I was a little young but remember it wasn't a popular idea! Lol they had a little dog that barked at you from behind the fence.

Some random fun memories: The "Lakers" all had dinner bells on the side of their house to ring the kids home! My mom just hollered out the front door!! They all knew their bells! Or how about the German Lady ranting and raving about us hurting her dolphins?? Mrs Siler letting Susie out telling us it was time to go home now.. Mark Eckert being the best at carving names in the picnic table. Ghost in the graveyard, The Firestone cemetery, Swinging so high on the swing with Cliff Wagoner, thinking we were going to go over the top. Boy Scout camp week and the bonfire that followed. Using baby oil as suntan lotion/with just a little iodine for color. Working for Mrs. Siler cleaning cottages before the Summer started. So many more!

Another photo from the Lake tonight!
