Day 5 in the Holyland- After a brief visit to Lod, home of the Church and Tomb of St George, patron saint of England, we drove on to Jaffa.

It was in Jaffa that St. Peter raised Tabitha, one of Jesus' disciples, from the dead. And also in Jaffa, on the roof of Simon the Tanner, that Peter had a vision encouraging him to accept Gentiles into the new Christian church without insisting that they first convert to Judaism - a milestone in the early history of the Church.

We worshipped at the Church of St Peter in Jaffa, then stopped at Tel Aviv to enjoy a few hours of leisure.

On Day 4 of our journey to the Holyland, we visit two places important to the memory of St Peter. In Galilee, we tour the fishing village of Capernaum, Peter's home, which became the center of Jesus' public ministry. We saw the Synagogue where he preached and the ruins of Peter's home, where Our Savior healed Peter's mother-in-law of a serious illness.

Later in the day, we visited the Church of St Peter Ingallicantu, commemorating the spot where Peter denied Jesus three times before the c**k crowed and then repented his sin.

Ascending the Mount of Olives, we enjoy a spectacular panoramic view of the holy city. We visit Pater Noster Church, where Jesus taught his disciples the Our Father or Lord's Prayer, and the Church of the Ascension, honoring the last spot that he stood on earth before returning to heaven. See the spot which Orthodox tradition believes to be the Tomb of St Mary. And finally, the Chuch of Dominus Flevit, where the beloved eyes of our Savior gazed upon the city of Jerusalem and wept for its fate.

Our first day at the Holy Land was a blessing! We got to visit the Church of the Nativity, built by Emperor Justinian in the 6th century over the grotto of Jesus’ birth (Mathew 1:18) and the Milk Grotto, where Mary breastfed Jesus. Then headed off to Beit Sahour to visit the Shepherds’ Fields (Luke 2:8), the place where the angels of the Lord brought good tidings of great joy for all people that our Savior, Christ the Lord, is born.
