We love our tiny little spot in this community. We aren’t on the beach, we don’t have gulf views, you can’t even see us from 30A so we aren’t a spot you just happen to find by driving by.

What this means is we recognize that you were intentional in choosing us. We remind ourselves each day how important it is to level up, to try harder to be consistent, to love people. It matters.

It’s a Grayt Sunday in SoWal, SWFD lifeguards are flying yellow flags for moderate surf hazards and rip currents. 🤙🌊🛟🌴⚠️

Remember to wear plenty of sunscreen and stay hydrated. Even on a “calm” day, the Gulf is hazardous to anyone who is not a strong swimmer or familiar with open water. Make it a safe day and swim near a lifeguard!

This is NO April Fool’s Joke, but……

We are ONE month away from nesting season! 🤩🎉🐢

While our lovely sea turtle mommas still have a little while before they visit our beaches, we know that many of our out-of-town supporters are already here, or will be soon! 😎🏖️🚙

Even though it is not nesting season yet, you can still help our local sea turtles by taking these simple actions during your time in paradise 🏝️⬇️

✅ Be sure to take all items with you when you leave the beach! Objects such as inflatable floats, beach balls and trash can be blown into the water and become a hazard for marine animals 🐢

✅ If you are fishing, be sure to properly dispose of all fishing line and gear. Sea turtles can get hooked or become entangled in loose gear which can be hard to break free or avoid 🎣

✅ If you see an injured or stranded sea turtle during your time here, please call our hotline at (850) 865-4503! 📞☎️❗️

Deer Lake State Park, hugging the Gulf Coast along Florida’s famous Scenic Highway 30A, is a renowned itself.

The park gets its name from the rare coastal dune lake within its boundaries. In the United States, coastal lakes only exist on the Gulf Coast.

Step on the boardwalk to the beach and you’ll stroll across a fascinating dune ecosystem teeming with rare plants, flowers and many bird species.

Or set out on the park’s hiking trails as part of Florida Hiking Trails Month to explore a landscape dotted with Southern magnolias, scrub oaks and memorable views of Deer Lake. 🥾

There’s a lot to soak in at Deer Lake State Park, and you’ll be glad you made the trip!

30A is unique as far as beach access, many areas and homes on the beach actually own the beach real estate in front of their homes. What does this mean? You will need to have a wristband if in Watercolor or Seaside to enter the beach areas. If not utilizing one of the many public beach accesses, you can set up on the wet sand close to the gulf but no tents. You may be asked to move if you are set up on a private beach. Pay attention to signage and have fun!!

***** ❤️ TURTLES ❤️ ***** Our area is very popular for marine life especially turtles. If you’re going to walk on the beaches at night please do not use the white light on your phone or flashlight. Please use a red light. White lights distort the marine life and cause problems in their environment. If you see large holes on beach fill them in, mama and baby turtles can get stuck in them 😞

Yes, we have bears, deer and other wildlife in our area. Please do not leave trash accessible to bears, etc. Please use caution when driving on 30A and 98 watch for deer.

If you’re visiting the beach and plan to take your own beach chairs, umbrellas, coolers, food etc. please use the trash cans and leave the beach better than you found it. Please use 30A Freecycle for Visitors (on Facebook)

If you’re using or renting golf carts please be respectful to those who are driving on the 30A. It’s a 2 Lane Road, golf carts are significantly slower and can cause delays for those who are trying to get to work or other daily activities. Please be respectful and pull over and let cars pass if you see them backed up behind you.

Restaurants: reservations are required or appreciated at most and the good/popular restaurants require advance reservations 3-4 weeks out in busy season. You may want to plan dinners when restaurants open 5pm-ish to avoid long waits and most restaurants close 9-10pm.

Our area is not a huge party as many business, shops and restaurants close 9-10pm. Those seeking more nightlife please consider Destin and Panama City. We pride ourselves on offering a laidback, family oriented vacation destination. Parents please manage your children. In the past we have had issues with teen violence, drinking, drugs, destruction of property, beach fighting, and generally causing problems around families trying to participate in simple family fun. We love and welcome all and to many locals this is our home. We hope visitors will be respectful. Thank you 😊😊
