Before getting into shock mitigation, Greg Roberts worked over 20 years in manufacturing as a metallurgical engineer and quality manager for the aerospace/defense industry. While working in Largo, Florida, he met a local inventor who had contracted his division to machine and fabricate the primary components of a shock mitigating pedestal. With his background in laboratory testing, he preformed th
e required tests to qualify the pedestals to the ABYC seating standard. He continued to provide technical assistance and served as the project manager for the Land-Mar Products account overseeing the manufacturing of the components for what became the Seaspension® line of pedestals. In 2008, he joined Seaspension Technologies, Inc. as VP of Operations to handle all of the engineering, marketing and accounting responsibilities. He was instrumental in landing and completing large seating orders going to the U.S. In 2011, he started CVI Promotions/Marine to serve as manufacturer’s representative and an independent distributor. The sale of the manufacturing rights in 2014 resulted in an eventual separation and end to the relationship. Premier Pedestal, Inc. had been in operation in Key Largo, Florida for the past ten years with a simplistic and robust design. Roberts bought out the remaining inventories and components while working with the owners to begin production on a larger scale. Some design changes were made for additional strength and to increase the travel length to 5”. The introduction of height adjustability and weight compensation using a progressive spring combined over 30 years of engineering experience. Pro Pedestal® was born and represents the “Next Step in the Evolution of Shock Mitigation” for pedestals. Pro Pedestal® components are manufactured in the U.S. and pedestals are custom fabricated to assure quality and control costs in order to achieve a low MSRP of $495. The Pro Pedestal® is able to handle larger helm chairs with a single pedestal, but can also be used in bench, leaning post and bolster seat configurations. There are a variety of adapters to fit various seats and changing height requirements. The same proven damper and spring technology is used in a Pro Pedestal® with the exception of the longer stroke and progressive spring. Accelerometer testing is pending, but these differences should result in even better performance, protection and comfort especially in the lighter sea conditions. Pro Pedestal® is more durable, less expensive and promises greater protection from wave impacts and comfort in all sea conditions. CVI Marine looks forward to a bright future of manufacturing and distributing the Pro Pedestal® line of seating products and offers a full money back guarantee of satisfaction and a lifetime warranty.
