Exciting changes ahead as I step into the Vice Chair role for ABC South Texas in 2025 alongside Chair Chris Martinez. The Leadership Institute, one of the three National Board meetings for ABC, is where incoming leaders of the 68 chapters across the country come together to gain valuable knowledge and support.

I’m also honored to join the National Chapter Development Committee, where I’ll be helping guide other chapters with growth, stability, and advocacy for the merit shop. Working with our incredible South Texas Chapter President, Michelle Seward Davis, has taught us valuable lessons on leadership transitions and how to create a path for success in key areas like government advocacy, safety, workforce training, and more.

Marksmen General Contractors undertook the ambitious ESD 2 Fire Station 121 project, turning a multi-phase vision into a single-phase reality. Nestled in a rapidly growing area, this project involved constructing a 20,000 SF modern Fire Station and renovating the historic wood structure into a 3,500 SF training classroom.

Tonight we honored a great leader and man of faith for being our Chairman 2023-2024. Thank you Jason Harmon for fighting the good fight for free enterprise and merit shop. You led the charge this year in rebuilding and rebranding. We appreciate your courage, commitment and dedication to ABC, the industry and community. Under his leadership, we have forged an army of passionate leaders to ensure we are adding value to members and truly serving others in the industry and community.

The project involved constructing a 9,000-square-foot addition, including a youth library, craft lab, demo kitchen, and event center, while renovating the existing 4,000-square-foot facility. This expansion tripled the library’s size, turning it into a modern, functional space designed to meet the needs of a growing community.

The Fellowship Hall project involved constructing a 9,200 square-foot pre-engineered metal building with stone veneer siding. The Fellowship Hall was designed to be both beautiful and functional, reflecting the church’s needs and aspirations.

The Construction Career and Trades Day wasn’t just about learning—it was about doing! Teams of high school students took on a timed build challenge, tackling framing, mechanical, plumbing, and electrical work with only a set of plans and their skills to guide them. It was inspiring to see these students dive into the challenge with focus and teamwork.

Career exploration came to life at our booth during the Construction Career and Trades Day! Our team connected with high school students, sharing what we do at Marksmen, the exciting projects we’ve worked on, and our role in the construction industry. Students also had a blast with our interactive safety activity, spotting violations on screen and buzzing in to explain what needed fixing. It was a great way to spark interest and give them a taste of what it means to work in construction.
