Norway group Day 8:
View from our hotel room of Lillehammer ski run, a walk through an open air museum and another beautiful stave church.
We had a farewell dinner with our group within a larger group, exchanged contacts and hugged goodbye. A young couple from the Midwest got engaged during our tour and there were two birthdays. We loved our guide Colleen and driver Robert and we made a lot of friends.

It was quite a journey being on four planes, through a couple hundred tunnels (one was 15 miles long!), a train, a couple ferries, a funicular, four buses, two fjord cruises and a gondola - not to mention walking 25-30 miles over those 11 days. We were movin’!

We were sorry to leave this beautiful country. 🇳🇴

Norway group tour Days 6 & 7:
Two nights at Loen on a fjord. Took the gondola to the top, and then hiked a rocky uphill 2 mile trail with some of our group and felt very accomplished! Amazing views. Lunch up top and watched all the hang gliders. Then later that day walked to an old church with a Celtic cross that is at least 1000 years old.
Today a cruise on Geiranger fjord and then a drive to Geiranger Skywalk for - you guessed it, more views. Tonight we are in Lillehammer after driving through the area where some of my Norwegian ancestors lived - Lom and Vinstra. I had a delicious dish in Lom of tomato barley (like a risotto) and then a quick look at a stave church in the rain.

Norway group tour day 5:
Fjord cruise out of Flam to Sognefjord and Naeroyfjord, a ferry across to the other side, visited the biggest glacier on continental Europe, drive over a mountain to Loen on Nordfjord with goats and cattle on the road. Gorgeous day!

Norway Day 4:
A walk through medieval Bryggen, amazing weather and views are becoming the norm (!), lunch in Voss alongside a fjord, views from our hotel in Stalheim and the Fram Railway trip!!

Norway group tour day 3:
A drive from Telemark to Bergen that took us above the timber line, filled with waterfalls (even hiked up behind one!), a ferry across Hardanger Fjord, cider tasting, Bergen fish market and shopping, dinner on the waterfront and a ride up the funicular to view the late sun over the city. Bergen, the rainiest city in Europe, and we had beautiful sunny weather! ☀️

Norway group day 2:
Departed Oslo for Telemark and visited the oldest stave church (c 1250) in Norway at Heddal. Then on to Vemork - hydro electric power plant turned museum where during WWII the n***s were producing heavy water, and Norwegian heroes/saboteurs bombed the facility. Beautiful Rjukan waterfall. Then a walk to a mountain meadow from our hotel in Rauland

Norwegian explorer ships Fram (South Pole) and Kon Tiki (Polynesia)
Oldest intact Viking helmet
Viking artifacts- spears, gold spurs
Hollenkollen ski jump

(P.S. we got out of LAX a couple hours before the tech outage wreaked havoc at airports and we arrived just fine)

A tour out of Manzanillo to the state capital Colima and cathedral, historic murals, climbed the Nahuatl ruins of Campana, roadside candy and produce stand, views of two volcanos and more palm trees 🌴 🌴🌴than I’ve ever seen, mixed with papaya and bright yellow primavera trees.

Last October we took a group to Italy. Here we are on an underground escalator in the hilly medieval city of Spoleto, Umbria.
(Note: I get permission from all group members to post after we return- and they can let me know if they don’t like a photo and ask to remove. I on the other hand, post all along the trips as a travel blog so people can watch and experience the trip from home. But sometimes it looks like I’m traveling alone! 😂 )
