Fall has come to the high country, and moose in the back yard!
The leaves are beginning to change color.
I have learned there’s at least 12 moose in the valley near the house. I don’t think this area with a small creek and a few beaver ponds can sustain 12+ moose.

What was once a thick pine forest years ago prior to clear cutting, is coming back as mainly an aspen forest. This summer, groups of small densely packed aspens have had considerable growth.

With mud season comes spring snow storms and this year, a moose in the ‘back yard.’
Photo taken safely from the second story deck. Moose can run fast through snow and trample a threat. And they don’t like dogs. Thus, always give them distance; they move along on their terms!
