Time to meet one of the sculptors who will be creating art for us this year:

Karlis Ile , a professional sculptor from Latvia, has been creating art professionally since 1995. He works with various materials: bronze, steel, granite, wood and recently ice, snow and sand — because he “likes how the primeval force of these natural materials, along with the magic of the moment, makes energy vibrate.”
Karlis graduated from Art Academy of Latvia and holds a master’s degree in art in humanities. He also finished figural Sculpture Master workshop.
Karlis holds numerous gold medals from international festivals in many countries, including Russia, Switzerland, Finland, China, Japan, Lithuania, the USA, Canada, Germany - and his home country of Latvia.

This is Karlis’ first visit to Texas — let’s make him feel welcomed!

There are many ways you can help nesting sea turtles:
- Call Sea Turtle Inc (956) 243-4361 to report a nesting female on SPI.
- Respect the boundaries & give them space.
- Clean up after your beach visits.
- Fill in holes & demolish sandcastles.
- Drive the speed limit on the beach (10mph).
- Educate others: share this post to help us spread the word.

The City of Port Isabel has scheduled its 4th Annual Easter Egg Hunt on the grounds of the Lighthouse for Saturday, April 8th. Participants may enter the park at 9:30 a.m. and the Easter Egg Hunt will begin at 10 a.m.
It’s a different kind of “hunt”. Over 20,000 eggs will be scattered on the hill of the Lighthouse. Participants will need to bring their own baskets and will line up on the east side of Lighthouse Park. At 10 a.m. the starting line will be released, and the fun begins. The Easter Bunny will also be making an appearance and posing for photos.
The Port Isabel Lighthouse State Historic Site will be open from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. The Keeper’s Cottage Visitor Center will be open from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Tickets to tour the Lighthouse are available at the Visitor Center or the Lighthouse. $5.00, adults; $4.00, seniors (55+); $3.00, students.
Local businesses may also participate in the event as a Lighthouse Easter Egg Hunt Stop. Each business that would like to take part is eligible for 250 Easter Eggs. City Staff will deliver Easter Eggs to your business and promote your business as a Lighthouse Easter Egg Stop. To sign up, call (956)943-1822. Eggs will be distributed during the week prior to Saturday, April 4 – 7. Your business can distribute the Easter Eggs to patrons.
The 4th Annual Lighthouse Easter Egg Hunt is free to the public and sponsored by the City of Port Isabel and the Port Isabel Economic Development Corporation.
