What is it about Braxdale Travel?
Out and About with Sonia Leonard. Thanks for the opportunity to share a little about our little company Sonia! Our goal is to help our guests create wonderful memories through their travel experiences.
Memories of Alaska! June 2017. We are taking another group next year. Anyone want to go with us? #Wildlife #Nature #cooltemps #Godscountry #BraxdaleTravel #Weplangreatadventuresanywhereintheworld!
The beach is beautiful, the sand is almost like talcum powder and the Caribbean sparkles blue and green. As soon as you set foot on the beach someone greets you and escorts you to a perfectly arranged set of beach recliners. They set you up with a pail of ice filled with bottled water, lay out towels and ask if you need anything else. Service is remarkable.
After an hour or so it was off to the pool and the same service there. The infinity edge pool is a little over waist deep throughout with the most comfortable ledge to sit on and soak up the sun and relax.
Lunch by the pool was fantastic.
We have visited over 100 resorts and seen hundreds of rooms so we can better help clients with their quest for the perfect vacation and this resort has to be one of the best we have seen or experienced. The pictures do not accurately portray the size or elegance of the room. This is a perfect resort for pampering, view, room and setting.
After a very relaxing ride from London to Paris on the EuroStar, we checked into our hotel that is a five minute walk from the Eiffel Tower (The last picture in this slideshow is the view of it from our room.) We spent the afternoon on the Hop On Hop Off Bus touring Paris, ending at Trocadero where we had a beautiful view of the Eiffel Tower all lit up. We stopped for a crepe and a hot drink. We soaked it all in as we listened to a street musician play the violin--"We are in Paris. Eating a crepe. Drinking hot tea. Listening to music while gazing at a magnificent view!" Amazing day!

We are going to Europe for a wine river cruise on the Rhone in France this March 23. Anyone want to join us? Too much fun to pass up - culture, history, relaxation, beautiful landscapes and cities while enjoying wine and making new friends.
The Gottweig Abbey in Krems is a Benedictine abbey that was constructed in the 11th Century. It was almost entirely ruined by fire in 1580 and then again in 1718. In 2001 it was named a UNESCO World Heritage site. Approximately 50 monks currently live at the abbey which boasts 26 hectares of vineyards. Wine has been produced there since 1083.
We spent a beautiful morning sailing the Wachau Valley-the stretch of the Danube between Krems and Melk. Along both banks, we could see castle ruins and medieval towns dotting the river banks. This is a UNESCO World Heritage Site-"The architecture, the human settlements, and the agriculture use of the land in the Wachau vividly illustrate a basically medieval landscape which has evolved organically and harmoniously over time."--from UNESCO
Sights and sounds of Passau-the City of Three Rivers
Passau is the last major city on the Danube at the border of Austria. This city was an important medieval center for salt trade that was transported from the Alpine salt mines. The fortress-Veste Oberhaus, founded in 1219, is a great place for a panoramic view of all three rivers as you look at the town below. St. Stephan's Cathedral is one of the town's foremost landmarks. This baroque style cathedral boasts the largest pipe organ outside of the United States.
We started our cruise on the Danube in Nuremberg and took an excursion focusing on World War II--The rise and fall of the Nazi Regime. Nuremberg was the seat of Nazi propaganda and the place of punishment for Nazi war criminals. We visited the Nazi Rally Grounds (Students practice football on part of it now). We also visited Courtroom 600 in the Palace of Justice, the venue for the Nazi war trials. This was a fascinating excursion packed with lots of history!
Billy and I just got back from a seventeen day trip in Europe. We started our adventure with 45 of us sailing the Viking Var on the Danube from Nuremberg to Budapest. We LOVE working with groups and this was even more special because we got to sail with this group! We celebrated our 40th anniversary in London and then joined my sister and brother-in-law in Paris as we sailed on the Viking Rolf down the Seine River. I will be sharing this trip with you over the next few weeks. Stay tuned...
The 'Stone Bridge' in Regensberg was built in the 1100's and for centuries was the only crossing point on the Danube River. It was used by everyone from the Crusaders headed East to the Holy Land and the Allies in WWII. At the foot of the bridge on the Regensberg side of the river there is a Brat Haus that has been serving Bavarians since the bridge was built - that is for 900 years.
We had to check it out on the way back to our ship and were rewarded with great brats and mustard surrounded by the ancient setting - small/intimate environment and tiny doors. Amazing to think that this little building has survived and flourished along the banks of the Danube for centuries, serving the workers, Crusaders and other travelers along this important trade route, the Black Plague, WWII and more over the years.
One of our favorite getaways are river cruises. Viking River Cruises is making this an affordable option for everyone with $295 round trip air to Europe. River cruises, like this one in Southern France, are a bargain and offer fantastic experiences. Total cost including air starts at $2419 pp. Group rates available.
Nickelodeon Punta Cana
Fun for the family in the Caribbean - kids love getting slimed, but that is only a small part of the fun. Parents and grandparents, too. Call us to find out more. #NickResortPuntaCana
Llanos de Cortes, Costa Rica
Which says it best? The picture of Llanos de Cortes waterfall in previous post, or the video?
Enjoyed some of the back roads in Costa Rica, waterfalls, beaches, dense jungle, monkeys, iguana, etc. From one extreme to the other at the resort where luxury awaited us. Would have to say this is a great destination for the adventursome, or those looking to relax and be pampered. Pura Vida.
Wonderful time in Costa Rica and great ideas to help our guests get the best value and most fun for their hard earned dollar. Pura Vida in Costa Rica with Janie Braxdale!
