Good morning, everyone. Since many of you have stayed with us as guests, we wanted to update you on the status of the Cottage and Bunkhouse.
Hurricane Helene wiped out both homes. We can’t open the doors to the cottage because the concrete floor is completely buckled. We know the water was to the roofline of the cottage. The bunkhouse had 6’ plus of water inside as you can see by the waterline at wall art height plus the mud and flounder 😳 left behind. How the flounder got in there is a mystery to us. Chuck’s pretty sure the flounder is a state record and we’re having it validated. 🤣
As for our home next door, it’s a total loss. The surge lifted the house and twisted the frame. It’s now sitting at an angle and full of slimy black mud, making salvage difficult.
We are only one family out of hundreds of others who have lost their homes and businesses. Please keep the citizens of Steinhatchee and surrounding areas in your prayers as we work hard to recover and rebuild.
Per Chuck, any future reservations will be tent camping only. Each tent comes with a water view and dock space. 😂

These breathtaking photos of a double rainbow and their reflection in the canal were taken last weekend by one of our cottage guests. We love it when guests share photos of their adventures in Steinhatchee.

Due to a cancellation, we have this upcoming weekend available in the cottage. Two bed, one bath, maximum four guests, and no pets allowed. Must book through AirBnb. Dockage for one boat included in your stay.

We've had a last minute cancellation for the Cottage for this coming weekend of July 12th. Two bedroom, one bath on the water, with dockage for one boat included. Must book through AirBnB. Two night minimum stay, four guests maximum, and no pets allowed.

It’s already been an exciting adventure with family in town. The boys are on fire with their fishing skills that Grandpa taught them and today we hauled in our limit of scallops. 💕

For those of you staying with us this scallop season, we’re providing one scallop sorter per boat. Most businesses in town are also offering them so please make sure you take advantage of the sorters and put them to use when on the water. “If it falls through, throw it back.” Read more here to find out why these sorters are important.

And just like that, scallop season has snuck up on us again. The season starts this coming Saturday, June 15th and ends on Labor Day, September 2nd. We still have a few weekends available in August for both vacation rentals.

We've come a long way since Hurricane Idalia paid an unwelcome visit to Steinhatchee and it won't be long until our vacation rentals are back up and running. Renovations are complete and a thorough deep cleaning of both houses was finished this week. All we are waiting on now are a few pieces of replacement furniture to arrive on Tuesday. We hope to see you all soon for some downtime in our peaceful yet active village.

Step 1. Try to get the generator running.

Step 2. Locate broken pipes, cap them, and turn water back on. The chickens are all fine and drinking bottled water. Their coop and run are filled with mud so that will need to be shoveled out and replaced with sand.
