Duff Green Mansion will be on tour every day at 9 AM during Vicksburg Pilgrimage 2022!

Did you know?

The Duff Green Mansion is listed on the National Register of Historic Places and has received several awards and citations for the outstanding restoration of the home. Duff Green Mansion is one of only four structures in Vicksburg recognized by the Smithsonian Institution!

If you haven't taken a tour of Duff, now is your chance!

Duff Green Mansion was built in 1856 by a local cotton broker for his bride, the mansion was built for entertaining in the grand antebellum lifestyle. That life was short lived by the Green family when war reached Vicksburg in 1863. Duff Green is credited with saving his neighborhood including adjoining Christ Episcopal Church by designating the home as a hospital for both Union and Confederate soldiers.

A visit to the Duff Green Mansion reveals bloodstained floors, the site of the family’s civil war cave and the details of a rich history of Vicksburg before, during and after the siege. Plan your tour of Duff Green this Spring!

1300 Grove Street - Circa 1830

The last remaining original Vick family home appears to have been lived in for many generations. The house is listed on the National Register of Historic Places.

A mini-mansion built in 1830 for an unmarried daughter of Newitt Vick, the founder of Vicksburg. The house has been authentically restored and gives a unique feeling of the deep south before the Civil War.

The architecture is Greek Revival, the furniture is 18th and 19th century, and paintings are late French impressionist.

Visit the Martha Vick House for a charming and enlightening walk through history.

What is Pilgrimage?

Vicksburg’s Spring & Fall Pilgrimages are times during the year where the owners of historic homes and notable local places of interest open their doors to the public to share their stories that are set within the City of Vicksburg’s past.
