June 11 at 12 PM ► Preventing Brain Injury Is A Life-Long Endeavor
Doreen Grasso from the Brain Injury Association of Rhode Island will discuss brain injury prevention throughout the continuum of life. This is especially important as we age, for the senior population has the highest rates of traumatic brain injury. In partnership with AARP Massachusetts.
June 11 at 6 PM ► Anticipatory Grief: Strategies of Self-Care
Anticipatory grief is the normal mourning process that occurs when your loved one is still living and you are expecting his or her death. This type of grief reaction commonly occurs when someone has been diagnosed with a terminal illness or has been dealing with a chronic illness for a long period of time. This type of grief can be felt on many levels, including emotional, physical, social and spiritual. Anticipatory grief reactions can be experienced by those who have a relationship with the dying person, but also by the person who is dying.
In this presentation, we will address:
Defining anticipatory grief and how it may present
Strategies of self-care in coping with anticipatory grief

June 25 at 12 PM ► Movement to Support Your Brain & Body
Studies have shown that just 15 minutes of movement every day is more beneficial than 40-60 minutes a couple of times a week. In this session, Jazmin Averbuck, MS, exercise specialist, will discuss taking the movement you are already doing and incorporating new techniques to maximize benefits and maintain good exercise habits. Jazmin will share light exercises that you can incorporate daily. In partnership with AARP Massachusetts.
