A VERY close encounter with a curious elephant. This is a heartstopping but sublime moment. Please ... their presence enriches the world, stop shooting them for personal ego and gain. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Z0HJRww0dp4
It is difficult to remain unmoved by the drama of a newborn baby elephant standing for the first time at the urging of the entire herd.
Elephants rush out to meet a newborn member of their family. It is beautiful to watch.

A stunning and gut wrenching look at a baby elephant orphanage that is being overwhelmed by the numbers of little ones being rescued. Poaching is out of control and all we can do is hope that programs like the Air Shepherd (see the prior post) and a new ban on ivory saleswill help slow the rate of the slaughter.

With the price of ivory increasing, more elephants are being slaughtered and their orphaned babies are left in need of special care at an elephant orphanage ...

Saving an African Icon
On 15th September an iconic bull elephant in Tsavo was saved thanks to the combined efforts of The David Sheldrick Wildlife Trust and the Kenya Wildlife Service.
DSWT Pilot Neville Sheldrick spotted the injured elephant while on patrol and immediately raised the alarm. That was the moment this elephant's fate began to change, from what would have been a slow agonising death caused by a poison arrow to what will be his recovery and a second chance.
Watch the video as the DSWT/KWS Tsavo Veterinary Team and rapid response helicopter come to the aid of this beautiful bull http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YnLBuU518Tg

It is time to do something bold and audacious to end Rhino poaching. If the current trend continues there will be no Rhino left in Africa and the far east will have to look elsewhere for male potency remedies. Has anyone thought of sending these impotent idiots emergency shipments of Vi**ra?
Despite ongoing protection efforts, rhinoceros poaching continues its sharp increase.
We are keeping Nelson Mandela in our thoughts today. Get well soon Madiba.
