Portugal Travel facts

The best time travel to Portugal is between March and May. This is spring time in Portugal and the country is in full bloom after the colder winter months.

Portugal is not a large country, so you can travel easily by train or bus. The cities lend themselves to being explored at a leisurely stroll and if you need to go far, taxis are available.

You will need a Portugal travel visa to travel to Portugal from South Africa.

Most Portuguese restaurants bring you a selection of starters to nibble on while you read the menu. Don’t assume these are free, generally whatever you eat gets added to the bill.

Shops tend to keep irregular business hours so don’t be surprised if a shop or restaurant, even a museum, is closed

The new God's Window Skywalk to be launched in 2023 - which will protrude about 12 meters out from the cliffs of the Blyde River Canyon - will offer spectacular views of the Lowveld, more than 900m below!

It will also be higher than the Grand Canyon Skywalk, and the Zhangijiajie Glass Bridge in China, and it will greatly benefit the Mapulana Tribe, which owns the land on which the Skywalk is set to be built.

This undoubtedly will add to visitors' experiences of Mpumanlanga and the Panorama Route, and is set to be an iconic part of a Kruger itinerary.
