🦏 Alarming Rhino Poaching in South Africa Continues 🦏
Despite ongoing conservation efforts, nearly 500 rhinos were killed in South Africa last year, marking an 11% increase from 2022. KwaZulu-Natal's Hluhluwe–Imfolozi Park alone lost 307 rhinos, making it the hardest-hit area. While conservation measures have shown some success in other regions, poaching remains a grave threat to these majestic animals. The fight against illegal wildlife trade must continue to protect the future of our rhinos.

Dear Marloth Park residents, property owners, holiday home owners, and visitors.
Being in the privileged position to be situated right next to the majestic Kruger National Park is nothing short of magical, however, it also means that residents and visitors alike, need to be extra vigilant at all times.
Walking around early mornings before the sun is high enough to light the sky, and late afternoons when the sun is on its way down, is not advisable at all as we encounter predators from time to time here in Marloth Park.
During the winter months, the sun sets fairly early, and it happens in the blink of an eye, so please don't underestimate how quickly it can get pitch black.
As I am writing this, I can hear the roar of a lion, not too far from where I am. Is the lion in Marloth Park? I don't know.😳It might as well be.
It is vital to note that Lions cross the fences between Marloth Park and the Kruger more often than we realize, and they might even be walking around in Marloth Park undetected!🤗 Don't wait for a "predator warning" to be cautious.
*Always treat your surroundings as if there could be a dangerous predator lurking about.*
We have several leopards roaming around in Marloth, and just because we don't see them every day does not mean they are not here.
Please be safe. *Walking around in Marloth Park between sunset and sunrise is NOT PERMITTED.*
This applies to everyone, children, adults, elderly, joggers, cyclists, and the like.

Some interesting interaction between the three Buffalo seen opposite Swartwitpens this morning. Two were wallowing on the edge of the river.
