Leopards sometimes sleep on branches to avoid other predators.

They are not always at the top of the food chain, animals like lions and packs of hyenas can pose a threat to them.

This is Jilime, a young female leopard, daughter of Luluka, granddaughter of Lorian. A beautiful royal family of the Masai Mara.

She is strong, she is confident and she will be the new queen.

Types of Giraffes

Recent genetic research has redefined our understanding of giraffe species. Previously, all giraffes were considered a single species with various subspecies. However, new studies have revealed that there are actually four distinct species of giraffe:

Northern giraffe: Found in East Africa, this species includes subspecies like the Nubian, Kordofan, and West African giraffes.

Southern giraffe: Found in Southern Africa, this species includes subspecies like the South African, Angolan, and Namibian giraffes.

Masai giraffe: Found in East Africa, this species has a unique coat pattern and is considered a separate species.

Reticulated giraffe: Found in East Africa, this species is known for its intricate network of dark spots.

It's important to note that this classification is still evolving as scientists continue to study giraffe genetics and behavior.

The writer Rudyard Kipling imagined that the leopard’s spots came from a human’s fingertips to help him go unnoticed in the jungle.

In reality, the patterns on the skins of leopards and other big cat species evolved to provide them with camouflage in their habitats.

Jilime’s spots help her camouflage herself in the forest, and thus catch its prey more by surprise 🐆

This baby elephant was on the receiving end of a grumpy old cow when she deemed him to close to her feet. Luckily he survived the ordeal and wandered off with the rest of the herd.

Striking Stride 🐾

I found this stunning and full lioness strolling along the road with her sister at first light. They had just made a kill and had full bellies and bloody faces after enjoying their meal!
