Blunder #78 | They Said I was Crazy to Quit My Job | Thato Shadrack

Thato's story is a rollercoaster ride, one fuelled by both ambition and some blunders. He swapped chalkboards for skyscrapers, defying family doubts and forging his own path.

But navigating the cutthroat world of real estate demanded more than just grit. Overconfidence reared its ugly head, tempting him to deviate from his long-term plans. This detour landed him in a financial quagmire, stress spiralled into depression, and the whispers of public stigma stung.

Yet, Thato's story isn't about the stumble, it's about the remarkable comeback.

Blunder #76 | Alexandra Event Summary | 24 November 2023

In the heart of Alexandra, nestled amidst the hustle and bustle, erupted a day of epic proportions! My Biggest Blunders - Alexandra wasn't your regular, stuffy business conference. No, this was a raw, unapologetic bonfire of entrepreneurial confessions, where young entrepreneurs traded war stories like seasoned warriors. Asset structuring? More like asset dis-aster-ing! Business models? Think Jenga towers built on banana peels! These entrepreneurs weren't afraid to bare their entrepreneurial scars, bleeding stories of bad decisions, financial flubs, and near-death experiences in the business jungle. But wait, there's more! From the ashes of these blunders rose phoenixes of wisdom. Each cringe-worthy blunder was dissected, analysed, and transformed into glittering nuggets of business gold.

To all of you who joined us, thank you so much for being there and making it an unforgettable experience. We're just getting started. Keep your calendars marked, because, the next event is going to be nothing short of mind-blowing. We can't wait to see you all there, and let's continue this journey of learning and growing together.

My Biggest Blunders | Failing Forward

Started in 2020 My Biggest Blunders is a movement as well as a series of events that share personal accounts of entrepreneurial or professional failures. We ask four or five entrepreneurs to disclose their own professional mistakes in front of a room full of strangers.

This platform helps everyone learn from one another's experiences. We share all of the stories of the businesses that fail, the partnership deals that didn't work out, and the products that have to be recalled because of safety concerns.

My Biggest Blunders is a safe place for people to publicly discuss their business mistakes, blunders, and failures. As a result, My Biggest Blunders is an innovative approach to handling failure. The goal is to look at failure as a teaching opportunity.

Changing the way we view failure and the story that surrounds it is part of our ongoing effort to build a more innovative and healthy entrepreneurial ecosystem. The goal is to fail forward.

While time may be limited, the value of reading in expanding one’s knowledge and gaining diverse perspectives is immeasurable.

Here is my 2023 reading list:
