LIVINGSTONE HAS A HIGH COVID-19 RISK - CONSTANCE

Livingstone City Mayor Constance Muleabai says Livingstone has a high risk of Covid-19 infection being a Tourist Capital.

Ms Muleabai said this is due to having a lot of tourists from within and out of Livingstone who come to visit the city and the Victoria falls which in return promotes economical growth.

Muleabai explained that having two active entry points which are Harry Mwaanga Nkumbula International Airport and Victoria Falls Boarder Post were people enter the City and rest in Livingstone while on transit and having the majority of our people working in lodges and hotels causes the high risk.

She has since urged Political, Civic and Religious Leaders, Hotels, Lodges, other businesses owners and the general public to fully participate and ensure that their employs and members are vaccinated.

The Livingstone Mayor said this will increase the vaccination coverage for both the residents and those coming into the city.

And speaking at the same function District Health Director Faceroy Nkole said Livingstone has received twenty six thousand two hundred and twenty four vaccines.

Mr Nkole revealed that total fully vaccinated people in Livingstone stands at twelve thousand one hundred and forty that translates into 12.7% which is the highest in southern province.

He further encouraged the people of Livingstone to get vaccinated.
