The program we offer is based on the Early Years Learning Framework. At Netley Kindergarten we use the Early Years Learning Framework so all children can experience play based learning that is engaging and builds success for life. The Early Years Learning Framework describes childhood as a time of belonging, being and becoming. Belonging is the basis for living a fulfilling life. Children feel the

y belong because of the relationships they have with their family, community, culture and place. Being is about living here and now. Childhood is a special time in life and children need time to just ‘be’ – time to play, try new things and have fun. Becoming is about the learning and development that young children experience. Children start to form their sense of identity from an early age, which shapes the type of adult they will become. Play is very important for children. Through play young children explore and learn to understand the world around them as they come to communicate, discover, imagine and create. When children play they are showing what they have learned and what they are trying to understand. By working together parents and educators can enhance a child’s learning and wellbeing.

We celebrated the learning journeys of our children leaving kindy this week, with two Graduation Celebrations. We will miss the children and families that are leaving, and we hope they continue to ‘Be, Explore, Grow’ throughout their learning journey at school.

Many children raised the idea of having a special Pyjama Day, as a way to send off our mid-year children leaving to go to school. We can’t wait for everyone to come to kindy in their special warm pyjamas.

A big thankyou to our Governing Council for approving the new lockers. A big thankyou also to our family that picked up the lockers, assembled them, and dropped them off to us.

We can’t wait to introduce our families to our turtle from the Nature Education Centre.
We have been unpacking identifying feelings and emotions, and the body signs associated with these. We wonder if children will observe how turtles show their feelings and emotions?🐢🐢
Thankyou to our kindy family that volunteered to pick up the turtle and transport it to our kindy.

We have continued to support children to regulate by providing strategies to co-regulate, using occupational therapy tools. Aswell as the explicit teaching and labelling of feelings and emotions, using books as a vehicle to support their emotional literacy.

This week we to had two families share their knowledge about Nowruz (Iranian and Persian New Year). We learnt about setting a Haft Sin table, with several traditional items placed on it. How fortunate we all are to be surrounded by such beautiful sharing of cultural celebrations with us.

What a wonderful day today at kindy! We had an Irish dance troupe visit, to show our children their dances. We were then fortunate to have a session, asking the dancers about their costumes, persistence with the steps, experience, and their hours of training. ☘️☘️☘️

2024 Families we need your help! Come to our Working Bee. If you are unable to attend, there are many other ways you can help our kindy. We are needing volunteers to help us pick up and drop off animals to the Nature Education Centre, aswell as volunteers for the kindy washing.

This week we said thankyou and farewell to Wendy and Peter, our Finches from the Nature Education Centre. We are looking forward to learning all about the mice that we will be welcoming to our site next week. 🐭🐁🐭🐁
