Australia is currently behind other commonwealth nations in their implementation of chemical, human rights, animal rights and nature rights. This is causing harm to life, liberty, legal justices and political order. Cancer causing chemicals are not banned that are banned in other countries, it is scientifically proven these chemicals cause health injury to wildlife, marine life and humans. Our National Constitution does not protect human or wildlife rights and liberties.

โ€ผ refers to the MOST severe forms of environmental destruction.

Currently, top-level decision-makers in governments and corporations are NOT held legally accountable when it is found that their decisions have led to ecocide.

Criminalising ecocide means that we put in place an essential, fundamental, minimum protection mechanism for nature, and the wellbeing and livelihoods of everyone who depends on it.

Protect our oceans: have your say on bottom trawling ban ๐ŸŒŠ

The Scottish Government is currently consulting on a bold proposal to ban bottom trawling in 20 offshore Marine Protected Areas (MPAs). This initiative aims to safeguard Scotlandโ€™s marine ecosystems from the destructive impact of bottom trawling, which threatens vital marine life and habitats.

๐Ÿ“… Have your say! The consultation is open until October 14, 2024. Your voice matters, whether youโ€™re an environmentalist or part of the fishing industry.

๐ŸŒ MPAs matter because they protect marine life, help our oceans recover, support fishing communities, fight climate change and offer insights into ocean health.

Get involved and help shape the future of our oceans!

๐Ÿ—ž๏ธ If youโ€™re tired of all the negative media coverage, hereโ€™s some hopeful news.

The latest State of the Worldโ€™s Mangroves report by the Global Mangrove Alliance has highlighted the tremendous progress made to protect mangrove ecosystems and empower communities that rely on them.

Here are a few key takeaways:

๐Ÿ—บ๏ธ The latest map from the Global Mangrove Watch is 6x more detailed and can even show mangroves growing around shrimp ponds, providing a valuable resource for conservation and management efforts.
๐Ÿฆ€ A new biodiversity model has estimated the density of 37 commercially important fishery species, showing mangroves support close to 800 billion young fish, prawns, bivalves, and crabs every year.
๐Ÿ”ฌ Citizen science initiatives are showing increasing potential for collecting valuable field datasets for initiatives like monitoring biodiversity and validating mangrove cover maps.
๐Ÿ More and more communities are diversifying livelihoods, picking up traditional practices like beekeeping to gain supplemental income while preserving local mangrove species and habitats and reducing pressure on other mangrove food products.

The tide is turning.

Statement From The Heart

First, I acknowledge the traditional custodians of this land, their spirits and ancestors, and express my gratitude for their enduring connection to country. I especially acknowledge the Fourmile family, GIMUY WALUBARA YIDINJI and Native creations for our collective work in developing totem, community reconciliation through events and sea to country story practices.

Our commitment to sustainability, circular economy, and organic bio-controls reflects our dedication to reducing chemical impacts in our national parks and gardens. It is a pledge to uphold the principles of environmental stewardship in accordance with council, state, and federal laws.

This recognition is not just for me, but for all those committed to preserving Queensland's natural splendor.

Together, we've balanced the needs of the environment with the interests of the community, ensuring that our natural heritage sites remain pristine. It is a testament to what we can achieve when we work in harmony with nature.

Our collective efforts in integrating circular economy principles into world heritage management. This recognition is for all those who believe that sustainable development and conservation can coexist.

Our journey began with a vision to transform how we manage our cultural and natural heritage sites to stop ecocide. By advocating for circular economy provisions, we have taken significant strides in policy-making at council, state, and federal levels. Our policies now present sustainability, reduce waste & recycling circular economy.

To celebrate Wattle Day it's time for our final threatened wattle post.

Acacia attenuata - Whipstick Wattle

Whipstick Wattle is an open shrub 3-4m tall with persistent bipinnate leaves and phyllodes to 14cm long with a narrowed base and a prominent midrib. White to cream ball flowers can be found during spring months and are followed by narrow seed pods to 10cm long. This wattle is found in heath or eucalypt forest on coastal plains from Southport to Maryborough where its habitat has been largely clearly and heavily fragmented. It is also threatened by altered fire regimes and w**d invasion. It is listed as vulnerable in Queensland.
