Can you spot the shipwreck? โš“

In 1876, a dramatic rescue unfolded just off Redgate Beach.

"I've been captivated by the story of Isaac Rock and the Georgette SS shipwreck ever since I moved here a few years ago. I've read accounts of the events surrounding the Georgette's sinking, and it truly is a fascinating story."

"Recently, on a clear day, I flew my drone to capture some images of Isaac Rock, but the Georgette was unusually visible that day. The sand banks move a lot and sometimes the wreck is largely buried, but other times like on that day, it was crystal clear."

"Nearby surfers may have been unaware that the dark shape beneath them hold such a famous tale."

Have you ever seen a river in the ocean? ๐ŸŒŠ

๐Ÿ“ Canal Rocks, Yallingup

Over thousands of years, the force of the Indian Ocean has sculpted this section of granite coastline, chiseling out an impressive channel and canal of rocks.

A timber walkway offers easy access and fantastic views of the rushing water below, reminiscent of a river. The sight is always striking, rain or shine, and absolutely breathtaking when those big storms and swells hit the scene in late autumn and winter.

How's this for an unbe-leaf-able view! ๐Ÿƒ

The Boranup Forest is an easy 25-minute drive south of Margaret River town along Caves Road.

The Karri Lookout on the east side of Caves Road is the perfect spot to soak in the forest scenery as it rolls across the valley. Plus, it's a great starting point for beautiful bushwalks and has a great picnic area too โ˜•

Say g'day to the dolphins of Dunsborough frolicking in crystal-clear waters, their bodies shimmering like stars ๐Ÿ’Ž

As the social butterflies they are, you'll often find bottlenose dolphins hanging out in big, playful pods, cruising along our shores and even catching a wave with the (other) local surfers.

Boranup Beach. There will be no crowds. No houses on the hill to interrupt that feeling of pristine geography. Boranup's karri forest may be better known, but the beach is just as mesmerising.

Real life or painting? ๐ŸŽจ

We couldn't help but double take at this enchanting fairy floss scene, beautifully captured by (IG) during a magical evening at Cape Naturaliste, near Sugarloaf Rock.

There's just something spellbinding about a Margaret River Region sunset, each one gracefully putting on a unique palette of hues ๐Ÿญ

Good morning from Meelup Beach, Dunsborough โ˜€๏ธ

Thanks to the talented ๐Ÿ“ธ .dann (IG), we're greeted with a Meelup moment that truly embodies the essence of a good morning ๐Ÿ˜

With its white sand, turquoise views and shady grassed areas - Meelup is the perfect spot for a family beach day, ideal for picnics and swimming in its calm waters.

Who else is on board for some beachside relaxation this weekend? ๐Ÿ–๏ธ We certainly are, and Meelup is calling our names...

You've heard that Margaret River makes a fine drop, but have you ever wondered why? ๐Ÿค”

Some say it's the maritime climate; surrounded by water on three sides, the grapes get a lovely cool breeze each afternoon to make sure they don't ripen too quickly. Others swear by the ancient soils; sitting atop gravelly granite-rich soils so perfect for growing wine ๐Ÿ‡

We're sure they're all spot-on, and raise a glass to everyone involved in the 2024 vintage๐Ÿท ~ we hope you're putting your feet up and enjoying some much-needed rest and relaxation now that vintage is coming to an end.

After hitting the beach, there's plenty more to explore around Eagle Bay. Climb Cape Naturaliste Lighthouse, get coffee and a pie at Eagle Bay Olives, hit Meelup's MTB trails, have a refreshing pint at Eagle Bay Brewing Co then check out the sunset at Sugarloaf Rock.

See you in Eagle Bay? โœจ

Have you ever seen water as clear as this?

Making ripples at Castle Rock was ๐Ÿ“ธ .by.us (IG), enjoying one of their favourite beaches for a summer splash. It's also right on the coastal walk track that leads from Dunsborough to Eagle Bay, and is one of the prettiest scenic strolls you'll find.

Put your hands together for The Margaret River Region's winery teams who've been full steam ahead over the last month madly picking grapes for this years vintage. ๐Ÿ‡

With an earlier than anticipated start to the harvest it certainly was a frantic February but thankfully the weather played the game and now the majority of the industry's precious fruit is sitting safely in fermenters on its way to becoming award winning wine. ๐Ÿ†

House of Cards Winery in particular are quite excited with their handpicked Merlot grapes which are the result of a new clone introduced to the estate a few years back. ๐ŸŒฑ

Just think - all the trials, techniques and experiments involved in producing a beautiful glass of wine begin sometimes decades before that bottle is opened - making each sip a wonderful journey back in time. ๐Ÿท

Hands up, who's a bit stoked that autumn's on its way, with cooler nights, crisp light and roaring surf? It's also one of the best times to lace up and hit the Cape to Cape Track, the famous 134km hike along the Leeuwin-Naturaliste Ridge.

๐Ÿ“ธ Larkshots Photography captured the magic looking north from Yallingup to Sugarloaf, day one of the hike if you're walking north to south.

Why do so many hikers start in the north? Firstly, you'll have the sun on your back, and a few days to 'warm up' to the longest days walking on soft sand at the end.

So, fire up the group chat ~ it's time to start planning your hiking holiday!

Ain't nothing like a Sunday stroll to get some scenery in your life when staying in The Margaret River Region! ๐Ÿค

Cape Naturaliste is home to a variety of stunning walk trails that wind their way along dramatic cliff top vistas with lookout points such as Shelley Cove, captured here by ๐Ÿ“ท (via IG), dotted along the way.

Depending on season, the walk trails which can be accessed via Cape Naturaliste Lighthouse or Shelley Cove will reward hikers with sightings of breaching whales, native wildflower displays, thunderous surf or pristine blue oceanic panoramas. ๐Ÿ‹๐ŸŒผ๐ŸŒŠ

So take the time to get some nature therapy in your day and visit the glorious Cape Naturaliste for the most scenery you could possibly take in on two feet. ๐Ÿฅพ๐Ÿฅพ

Summer in The Margaret River Region - blue skies, low tides, small swells, and offshore winds all add up to provide holidaymakers with absolutely glamorous conditions along the approximately 200kms of stunning coastline. ๐Ÿ˜

The northern end of Yallingup Beach in particular is popular with the four legged kind of traveller, ๐Ÿ• that's right it's a dog beach!

When bringing Fido away on vaycay it's important to keep him or her chillaxed as much as possible, especially throughout this mid February heat. ๐Ÿ“ท (via IG) has the right idea here treating their pup to a leisurely stroll along what has got to be one of the most picturesque pet friendly beaches in all of Western Australia ๐Ÿ–

Looking for an amazing spot to take a dip? ๐Ÿ’ฆ We've rounded up 15 of our favourite swimming spots across the Margaret River Region ~ click the link in the comments to explore.

Pictured here by ๐Ÿ“ธ (IG) is Yallingup, in the northern end of the region.

Yallingup Lagoon is a tranquil embrace of blue, surrounded by shallow reef. Itโ€™s free of the wild wash of ocean, and a slice of kid-friendly, summer-swimming bliss. A little to the right is a crash of beach break for strong swimmers. ๐Ÿ–๏ธ

Canal rocks is an icon of the Yallingup coastline. ๐Ÿ™Œ

The striking formation comprised of 600 million year old granite acts as a barrier between the powerful Indian Ocean on one side and a sheltered cove on the other. ๐Ÿ–

A visit to Canal rocks isnโ€™t complete without a walk out over the wooden bridge where the sea rushes through below oneโ€™s feet and out into the bay, a scene captured beautifully here by ๐Ÿ“ท .visuals (via IG)

Like the rest of the generous nature on offer throughout The Margaret River Region, experiences such as this are a simple way to immerse yourself in unique environments on a daily basis. โ˜€๏ธ๐ŸŒŠ

Holidays in The Margaret River Region are more than just a get away, they are therapy for the outdoor inclined! ๐Ÿค

Please remember, while Canal Rocks is a stunning place to visit it is also an un-patrolled section of coastline. Please exercise caution, stick to the path and remember that during large swells it is best to stay well away from the bridge and the waters edge. ๐Ÿ›Ÿ

Tell us, what's your favourite beach in Western Australia, and why is it Eagle Bay? ๐Ÿ’™๐Ÿ–๏ธ ๐Ÿ˜‰

Sandy stretches of quiet beaches with crystal clear water mark Eagle Bay, with plenty of secluded coves on the drive towards Meelup. ๐Ÿ“ธ Aquaflyte Images enjoyed it without another soul in sight ~ and coming into February, you'll often have the beach to yourself.

Take this as your invitation to pack the snorkel, towel and suncream and set the satnav to the south west ~ this dreamy scene awaits!

25/01/2024

According to lead scientists there are precisely eleventy hundred shades of blue found along the Meelup-Eagle Bay coastline.. ๐Ÿค“

Ok we may have made that last bit up, but everywhere you look on a visit to this absolutely spectacular part of The Margaret River Region you're dazzled with the most striking combinations of shimmering blue and turquoise water. ๐Ÿ’ฆ

Sailing Charters WA is somewhat a specialist when it comes to experiencing all the colours of Geographe Bay and here is their lovely yacht Madeline captured by ๐Ÿ“ท .photog_ (via IG) cruising past the iconic Point Picquet.

Whether you choose to take in these glorious south west Australian scenes via foot with a hike through the Meelup Regional Park, or via sea with a luxurious sunset charter this region offers some of the most breathtaking coastline in the country. ๐Ÿ™Œ

Who's a good boy? ๐Ÿ“ธ is! ๐Ÿ’™๐Ÿถ
Goose had a ball exploring the Dunsborough sandbanks at low tide, after checking that it was a dog-friendly beach.

There are plenty of dog beaches and pet-friendly parks in the Margaret River Region, so please check carefully before em-BARK-ing on an adventure ๐Ÿพ

Yep, this region has national and regional parks where dogs/pets are not permitted. And it's our collective responsibility to keep both our pets, and all the native animals that live in the parks, safe.

Together we can keep the possums, birds, lizards, quendas and even the rare woylies safe and happy - thank you! ๐Ÿ’™๐Ÿถ
