Journey Through Movement And Breath

Journey Through Movement And Breath An approach to wellness that nurtures and energises without having to burn out. Premature decline. But this is a choice.
(15)

Journey Through Movement & Breath uses the practices and concepts of Tai Chi, Kung Fu and Chi Kung to promote wellness. Acknowledging that life is a journey and that the only constant is change and that the choices we make and the actions we take will shape our future, many people take their health for granted. Over time, we begin to lose little by little, our vitality, our ability to move and fun

ction with ease. The opposite can also be true if we choose to value our well-being and maintain what we have. As health is wealth and all the money in the world can never take the place of it. At sixty one, Vincent Cordeiro brings forty eight years Chinese Martial Arts experience to focus on wellness. With the understanding that no two people are the same, programs are designed to allow participants to work at a pace that encourages steady progress as opposed to a race-to-the-finish-line mentality, as this is crucial if one is seeking long term well-being. As wellness is an attitude, way to live, it governs what we do everyday to maintain and stay vibrant. Its important then to accept who and what we are now, then taking the steps that will give us the best chance of a vibrant future. Classes are run for all ages and fitness levels, small groups and private sessions.

Finding quiet and calm can be such an elusive state of mind. It's not so much about what's happening on the outside because we have some control of that. We can move away from situations that make us feel uncomfortable or that annoy or upset us.

But what we can never escape are the thoughts, emotions and the non stop chatter going on in our heads.

The common practice of using alcohol, ci******es, drugs and other temporary measures to find a little peace and solitude can help but may come with unwanted side effects.

A far better option with no negatives is Tai Chi and Moving Meditation. On the contrary, its practice enhances ones life. Helps still the mind, stops the chatter.

For anyone interested, we run classes at Beldon Primary School on Monday evenings, at the Monad Centre in Joondalup on Thursday evenings and at the Trans Genesis Yoga and Meditation Centre in Clarkson on Thursday morning.

Journey Through Movement And Breath

If your thoughts have the power to affect the way you feel and the way you feel colours your life in shades of happiness and unpleasantness, maybe think of what you're focused on.
Only focus on the things that create the feelings you want and this is where I find doing something like Tai Chi, moving meditation helps me to zone out, allowing me to pause the stream of thoughts that bombard all of us every minute of the day. Then in this acquired calm, in a relaxed and peaceful state, refocusing my mind on the thoughts I want to keep me company become possible, giving me control over the way I want to feel and live.

In response to the failure of world leaders to agree on a proposal to protect a large area of East Antarctica, we are now launching a global campaign for an Antarctic Sanctuary covering 1.8 million square kilometres of ocean, to protect whales, penguins and other wildlife as Antarctic nations fall short on marine protection.

SHARE if you're with us!

Over the next 12 months we have an opportunity to make history: to create an Antarctic Ocean Sanctuary which would be the largest protected area on Earth. Ocean sanctuaries not only protect incredible wildlife like whales and penguins, but they ensure healthy oceans which soak up carbon dioxide and help us to tackle climate change.

Together we can do it. Watch this space!

With the warmer weather beginning to kick in and summer around the corner, kick starting your metabolism into gear might be one thing on your mind.

The old usual question of what to do becomes a progressive distraction, a nagging that you have to start something before the hot summer hits.

One option might be to start slow and build from there, the main thing is start and not just think about it.

Then please consider Moving Meditation. Exercising in a meditative state. It's gentle flowing movements induce a state that's totally relaxed and focused, leaving participants relaxed, chilled out after getting the mind, body and breath synchronised. This class is suitable for all fitness levels, experience isn't necessary or needed. You can check us out on FB, our recent post of us at Overwhelm MMA.

Classes every Saturday morning from 10-11am at Overwhelm MMA, 6/61 Key Largo Dr, Clarkson

And on Thursday evenings from 7:15-8:15pm at Monad Centre, 3/48 Winton Rd, Joondalup

Will be happy to chat

For all of you looking for something new, now is a good time to consider the ancient art of Tai Chi.
Tai Chi, meditation in motion, is a gentle exercise for all ages and fitness levels that millions of Chinese and people around the world practice on a daily bases for its many health benefits.

The beautiful flowing movements, when applied with mindfulness and correct breathing have all the benefits of meditation combined with physical exercise. This meditative dance once learnt, takes between 12 minutes to 25 minutes depending on how slow you want to go, where the emphasis is on being present, never a race or a competition.
Thus providing the perfect vehicle for the maintenance of ones health.

This is what clinical psychologist Dr Brian Corless, a Tai Chi practitioner from NSW says:
In these busy lives that we live nowadays, taking the time to relax and mindfully contemplate is certainly a gift that we can willingly give to ourselves and others. If we include the gentle movements of a Tai Chi form with intention into this mindful practice, then we are closer to balancing " the three adjustments " in Traditional Chinese Medicine of body, breath and mind. Whether your Tai Chi is martial or practiced for health, the benefits are there to be experienced for mind and body, and the current research supports this.

We are starting a new course commencing Saturday 14/10/2017 which runs for 10 weeks. Each class is an hour in duration, every Saturday from 7 - 8am at Overwhelm MMA in Clarkson.

This course covers the first quarter of the 108 movement Tai Chi form. On completion, participants will receive a certificate of participation and a DVD of what they learnt.

This course cost $200 which is paid upfront.
Enrolment is essential to secure a place on this course.

Qigong is a Way of Being

Qigong is a Way of Being

The Man who brought Tai Chi to the West
Cheng Man Ch’ing (The Professor) is considered to be one of the greatest Tai Chi masters of modern times. He was a pioneer, instrumental in bringing Tai Chi and Chinese philosophy to the West. He was unique not only as a remarkable martial artist but also as a doctor of Chinese medicine, a scholar, painter and a poet.
Cheng moved with his family to the United States in 1964 to begin his mission of bringing Tai Chi to the West.
Despite being ostracized and condemned by most of the Chinese community for teaching Westerners Chinese 'secrets'...Cheng persisted and established a school where he taught all races and nationalities, men and women.
Cheng stated that traditional Chinese Tai Chi had become too long and complex…distilling it to its essence
Cheng also revolutionized the form…reducing it from 108 to 37 postures (shortening it from half an hour to less than 10 minutes) …calling his form “Yang-style Tai Chi in 37 postures”…making it more accessible to the modern world.
Cheng Man Ch’ing sought to live as a true human being…who overcame cultural divides to bring Tai Chi to the modern world, teaching Westerners how to seek an ethical, open-minded, joyful way of life
This video is old and rare footage of Cheng demonstrating his “Yang-style Tai Chi in 37 postures” (shortened & edited)
If you would like to see the full form...you’ll find it on my Website in the videos section

Look who we spotted doing Tai chi in the park !!!! Robert De Niro and Anne Hathaway!!! Not really it's from their movie "The Intern" but it's nice to see Hollywood make a common image of it. It's interesting we all look the same as we first start to learn the movements.

Is my mind at my feet or is it at my hands or on the instructor...but there is always focus... It's all apart of the wonderful process just like learning to drive a car or ride a bike, the more you embrace the process the faster you progress.

This wonderful process & progress is experienced most in Vince's Tai Chi mediation in motion classes take a look for more info.
