🚰 Project Announcement 🚰

We’re proud to play a key role in the significant upgrades to the Goldfields and Agricultural Water Supply Scheme (GAWSS). With over 10 years of involvement in the Golden Pipeline projects, we have modelled nearly the entire 600km pipeline from Perth to Kalgoorlie, positioning us perfectly for this new initiative.

In collaboration with Water Corporation, our team will conduct a comprehensive transient analysis to determine if the increased capacity will require additional surge protection along the pipeline. We will also provide direct input into the engineering and detailed design of the pipeline and pump station upgrades.

This project is a crucial step towards enhancing water security and sustainability in the Goldfields and Wheatbelt regions. By ensuring a reliable water supply, we support local communities, promote regional growth, and contribute to the long-term sustainability of Western Australia's water resources. Meet Folkert, our Principal Water Systems Engineer, who joined OneStone in May 2023. Folkert brings over 20 years of experience in designing and testing advanced equipment and process systems for the defence, nuclear, and water sectors.​

Folkert's expertise includes designing water and wastewater treatment plants, optimising hydraulic water systems, and leading multidisciplinary engineering teams. ​

His passion for engineering, especially in dynamic fluid systems, drives him to find innovative solutions for complex challenges.​

Our client in the South-West region of Western Australia approached us for assistance after experiencing a significant drop in their pipeline flow performance due to an unidentified restriction within their system. We were delighted to provide our field testing services and conduct a thorough site investigation to pinpoint the potential restrictions. This involved carrying out pressure monitoring at multiple locations along approximately 40-kilometers of pipelines.​

We pride ourselves in providing comprehensive solutions to our clients rather than simply providing raw data. On this occasion, we compiled a data record containing transformed data and generated hydraulic grade line plots to illustrate the friction losses along the pipeline. This visual representation allowed our client to quickly identify problem areas at a glance, enabling them to efficiently organise targeted maintenance efforts.​

For 1 week (2-6 October) our team will walk 3km a day as a team🚶‍♀️💪

Our senior engineer Alex has just returned from a trip down south to undertake transient pressure logging for a client. The client is looking to upgrade a set of pumps and wants to know if the aging pipeline is currently operating close to its pressure limits. 🌊

We installed pressure loggers at 5 locations along the pipeline and collected high-frequency data to ‘see’ what happens in the pipeline when the pumps start and stop. Hopefully, we can give the client some good news once we analyse the data. 🤞

Our Principal Engineer, Folkert, had the pleasure of attending the unveiling of the largest gate valve ever manufactured in Australia! Weighing in at an impressive 20 tonnes and 5 metres tall. 😮

Water Corporation will use these valves to isolate and redirect flows in our wastewater mains. It forms part of the broader wastewater system upgrades in Perth’s southern suburbs, aimed at accommodating growth in the area. 💧💪

OneStone has recently assisted Water Corporation with various studies to enhance the capacity of Perth's wastewater system, where we’ve had the opportunity to work on some of Perth's largest wastewater pump stations. We take pride in helping with these important projects that have a direct impact on our community. 🤝
