Setting the record for Fastest Edible Car was a piece of Cake. A Guinness Book of World Records entry exists for just about anything you can think of. There’s the world’s largest banana car, the world’s longest limousine even the world’s hairiest car (…ew). Constructed on an aluminum chassis, the 649-pound car took a team of nine people 46 hours to build, led by celebrity cake artist Mike Elder. Elder’s car was made up of 145 sheet cakes with buttercream and fondant and then painted with food-grade black coloring. Each car was about 12 layers of cake tall at the cockpit level. The car Andretti was steering set both Guinness Book of World Records benchmarks: fastest edible vehicle at 17.08 miles per hour, and longest distance covered by an edible vehicle at 349.81 feet

Drivers across Australia are risking hundreds of dollars in fines by dangling face masks on rear-view mirrors.

As face masks become mandatory in shopping centres and other COVID-19 hot spots across Australia amid the coronavirus crisis, many drivers have quickly adopted the habit of hanging a face mask on their car’s rear-view mirror for added convenience.

The fine for not wearing a face mask in shopping centres, on public transport, and in places of worship is $200 in NSW, Queensland and Victoria. Police have the discretion to issue warnings.
However, to avoid a fine for being caught without a mask, many motorists are unwittingly risking another fine if police determine a dangling face mask is blocking the driver’s view of the road.

The fine in NSW is $349 and three demerit points for “driving without a clear view”.

We already have mobile phone detection cameras in Sydney - and remember its five demerit points and a $344 fine (or $457 if you use it in a school zone) - but they are just trialling them in Queensland. And look at the fruit loop they found. He appears to have a bowl of cereal balanced on a cushion on his lap as he eats and scrolls through his phone! 😱😱😱

Well here's a bit of trivia for you. Volkswagen, Jeep and Cadillac fans were the most likely to make their dedication to the brand a bit more permanent—on their skin. An analysis of Instagram posts pinpointed which marques appeared the most often in tattoos on Instagram, and they found a whopping 5,507 VW tattoos on there—thousands more than any other car brand tattoos.

Jeep is the second most tattooed marque on the platform, with 2,139 Jeeps showing up on Instagrammers' bodies. Fans of more of an old-school American look—in tattoos and in cars—shouldn't fret, though. Coming in third was Cadillac, with 1,775 tattoos on the platform.

Build something to take care of those non-terminal repeating phantasms or class-five full-roaming vapors. This has got to have wide appeal as a Christmas presents for big kids as well as small.
The set is comprised of a whopping 2,352 Lego pieces and when completed, will measure 18.5 inches long. It's one of the more accurate Lego vehicles the company has created, and features a steering box connecting the steering wheel to the front wheels, hinged doors and an opening hood with replica V8 engine inside.
Like the movie car, it's packed with ghost-fighting gadgetry. There's a rotating ghost-sniffer activated by the wheels, a gunner seat that deploys from one of the rear doors, and a roof rack stacked with loads of spirit-trapping gear. Lego says it's even got some easter eggs that will be discovered as the kit is assembled.

Next time you are exasperated with your 'tweenager' just think of this story and they might not seem so bad. Law enforcement officials in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, are trying to figure out how and why an 11-year-old boy stole a school bus, led police on an extremely dangerous (and surprisingly long) chase, and ended up crashing into someone's front yard. He was arrested on four charges, but shockingly no one was hurt during the incident. The boy's erratic driving quickly caught the attention of police officers, but he refused to stop. News channel ABC 11 learned he hit a gas line and tried to ram into another vehicle as he led police on an unpredictable 13-mile chase across several parts of the city. It ended when he drove onto private property and struck a tree.
Raw video footage published by news channel CBS 17 shows a badly damaged International 3800 school bus being hauled away from the scene of a crash. As for the boy, he was handcuffed and charged with theft of a motor vehicle, aggravated flight, three counts of aggravated damage to property, and aggravated assault.
"As he got closer and closer and closer, I saw it's a little boy in there and he was laughing. He was, like, giggling on the way across Florida [Boulevard] as he goes right past me. I'm like, 'I can't believe it's a little boy,'" said Joy Gradney, who witnessed the chase first-hand.

Tree-mendous Harley. 🌳🏍 Let’s see if this custom bike’s price, which is up for sale in the US, could have you saying “Yes I wood!”
This amazing, and possibly splinter-inducing, bike is claimed to be both show-ready and roadworthy. According to the ad, it has airbags and an onboard compressor that let the rider raise the suspension “6-8 inches for riding.”
The footboards feature inlay work and look like tiny old-school surfboards, matching the color combo on the frame, tank and fenders. Of particular note is the center spine and hand grips which have been made to look as if they’ve been crafted from bamboo.
Power comes from a 1500 cc Harley V-twin breathing through googly-eye velocity stacks and exhausting through a pair of short straight-pipes. Yes, it’s most likely crazy loud, but then you never liked your neighbors anyway!
Another is the bike’s $15,000 asking price - pretty steep for an impractical vehicle.

How are you feeling dear?
Skoda claims to have trialled a smartphone app capable of diagnosing vehicle faults through audio analysis using artificial intelligence.
This could potentially lead to cheaper, shorter, and more effective servicing in the future. The system works by recording noises made by the car during operation, and then comparing these with a stored bank of referential sound patterns.
If discrepancies are identified, an algorithm determines the most likely cause, and prompts technicians with effective resolutions. According to the company, the process can be used to troubleshoot numerous vehicle components including the engine, steering system, air conditioning compressor, and clutches in the direct-shift gearbox.
Trials in 14 countries have reportedly shown a 90 per cent success rate at identifying and rectifying faults. However, the aptly named Skoda Sound Analyser is not yet available outside the controlled testing program.

Pooch protection.
Pets can be unpredictable in a moving car, and they can cause accidents when they get loose in the car. As you would imagine, you’d be swerving and driving erratically. It’s driving under the influence… of a cute pooch.

Don’t take your hands off the wheel.

Don’t allow a pet to ride with its head out of the window. Everybody loves seeing a dog with the wind blowing in its hair, panting contentedly. Consider this: any obstacle close to the vehicle could strike your dog in such a way to injure or kill it, even if you get too close to a tree branch. On the less-deadly-but-still-may-require-a-vet-visit side, dirt, bugs, and dust could lodge itself in your pet’s ears, nose, eyes and throat. If your dog thinks he’s Evel Knievel, he might even try to jump out of the car; then all hell breaks loose.

These tips will help pet owners create better restraint options for their pups:

1. Harness: A chest-style harness in the back seat is a great way to keep medium to large dogs in place during long and short trips. Check the manual for the pet harness to ensure you’re running the seat belts through the appropriate loops. Clip the harness to a restraint tether into the seat belt buckle or child-seat anchor for comfort.

2. Crates and carriers: Use seat belts to secure smaller dogs in portable pet carriers in the second or third row of your vehicle. Smaller carriers can also be placed on the floor between the front and second row to limit movement. Medium and large pets can ride in a sturdier kennel secured to the vehicle cargo area in SUVs or trucks, fastened to the vehicle as securely as possible.

3. Cargo area dividers: If you’re driving a large SUV, consider installing a divider behind the last row of an SUV. This is a great way to keep large dogs out your way while driving; just remember that also securing them with a harness is a smart idea.

SLOW DOWN AND BUCKLE UP. Drivers are being urged to take care on NSW roads, after the number of people dying while not wearing a seatbelt or speeding doubled compared to the same time last year.
Between March and July, 65 people died in speed related crashes on NSW roads, up from 27% of all fatalities during the same period last year to 54%, and 17 people died while not wearing an available seatbelt, up from 9% of vehicle occupant fatalities to 22%.

Minister for Transport and Roads Andrew Constance said :“Too many people are dying on roads close to home during this health crisis. Nearly 70% of those who died when they weren’t wearing a seatbelt crashed on a road in their local area,”

“These aren’t just figures, they are people. People who are missed by their families, their friends, their colleagues and their communities simply because someone decided to speed or didn’t think it was important to put on a seatbelt.”

Transport for NSW Deputy Secretary for Safety, Environment and Regulation Tara McCarthy said that men in particular were featuring prominently in the statistics.

“Of the 65 people who’ve died in speed related crashes, 48 were men, and of the 17 driver and passenger fatalities not wearing an available seatbelt 13 were male.”

While speeding and seatbelt related deaths were up, fatigue related fatalities were down from 15% to 8%, and alcohol related crash deaths remained steady at 13%.
