Our design practise is based on the belief that our client's needs are of the utmost importance. As a result, a very high percentage of our business is from repeat clients and referrals. Susan Koedam (BA Interior Design SCA) is a highly skilled Interior Designer with over
25 years experience in both commercial and residential Interior Design. Susan graduated from the presti

gious Sydney College of the Arts and belongs to the University of Technology alumni. Prior to commencing Koedam Design Pty Ltd in 1999, Susan worked for leading architectural firms such as Dino Burattini & Associates and Cann Architects. Her role with these firms, led her to become Senior Interior Designer, overseeing a team that worked on multi-million dollar architectural developments and fitouts, both commercial and residential. Susan worked on projects such as the Sydney Opera House Void project, Pitt Street Mall & monorail station and Standard Chartered Bank. Since commencing Koedam Design, Susan has worked on a variety of projects. These include the following clients and projects-

With views of the ocean and beach, this stone is like looking into the flotsam & jetsam of the surf waves….
We are working on the preliminary Kitchen design documentation for our Mollymook Beach Project.
Loving the the hero finish of this kitchen…the Blue Onyx island benchtop.
For practicality & to not divert your eye, all other benchtops will be in neutral finish of stainless steel with an integrated S/S sink.
We are incorporating the oak veneers & textures with matte white door panels
Did you know?….Under the believe of stones having healing properties, Blue Onyx is a stone that will increase happiness and contentment in life. It will also get rid of negative energy, enhance intuition and strengthen personal energy and self-control.
It’s a strength-giving stone that will be good for people who are always under extreme physical, emotional, or mental stress.
I think my client will not only visually love this stone, but I hope all these wonderful properties are brought into their new holiday home!

2015, saw us work on a major redesign, demolition and renovation of a wonderful harbour view apartment for a lovely couple who were downsizing to live closer to their children & grandchildren.
Back again to do some further work with the client on a few items, one being a custom colour and custom made rug.
Simple and classic being the brief from the client.

So much fun this evening…Shibori Textiles + Designer Rugs launch, with my bestie Chris Cole-Clark Interior Designer.

A small group of designers were invited to meet the Shibori Textile owners/textile designers & to produce a piece of tie dye in the Japanese style of ‘Shibori’.

SUMMER LIVING In Sydney…INSIDE...OUTSIDE...BLEND
Inspiration for this setting came from the fabulous ‘Bud’ outdoor pendant light..a fun & adjustable shape.
The family specified a relaxed alfresco dining space, off the kitchen and family areas, for their extended family.
Considering the borrowed landscape from the surrounding bordering gardens was an important detail, when designing this space. The dining terrace looks over a manicured garden courtyard and through to the pool area.

A quick design & documentation for a small Ensuite to commence 2024!
We decided that a calm harmonious palette is the way to go…the client wanted a simple colour & materials palette…
We are excited that we are removing an existing window and replacing this with a full height glass louvre window.
Bringing in light & ventilation.
We are all ready for one of our first projects for next year!

Another wonderful collaboration and launch for Designer Rugs + Warlukurlangu Collection
This collection celebrated the works of Judy Napangardi Watson & Mary Anne Nampijunpa Michaels, who convey a deep connection to the land.
I've followed the Warluklangu artists for some time and found out last night that they stand as one of Central Australia's enduring and most successful indigenous owned art centres.

BEDROOM LUXURY...working on this stunning harbourside apartment has been such a pleasure and we are excited to show you the last bedroom item that arrived this week on site, the rug.
Manufacturing this beautiful rug, took six months to hand knot and is made of Wool+Bamboo+Linen
The wallcovering has glass beads embedded into the paper and twinkles at night, adding further luxury and layering to this interior space.
We are thrilled with the final result.
The space is complete!

IRONBARK FARM...a small guest powder room transformed...
It was amazing how such a tiny space had more trades to convert the horrid forgotten space, into something with a bit of luxury...originally the wc was plumbed to the dam water, so that the muddy waters were what you saw going to the bathroom
Plumbing and drainage from the upstairs Ensuite was exposed.
The terrible little hand basin was behind the entry door.
Plumbing was all rearranged and put onto a non visible outside wall, a new ceiling covered the upstairs drainage pipes and house water now fills the wc.
A false half wall & V-Groove board covered rough brick walls and exposed plumbing & water pipes.
A recycled timber shelf on the half wall adds a hint of the rural landscape surrounding surrounds, plus gives space for our clients displays or fresh flowers.
A new hybrid flooring in the powder room carries through to the adjacent pool Rumpus room.
We installed contemporary white PC items and added a touch of brushed brass with the fittings.
So pleased our clients can be proud to have their guests use this cute powder room now!

In honour of Barbie, one of my favourites and part of my childhood loves, a tribute to PINK.
💗 the color most often associated with charm, politeness, sensitivity, tenderness, sweetness, childhood, femininity and romance.
💗A light pink is often viewed as soft, healing, and peaceful, where as a hot pink might be seen as bold, exciting and alarming.
🩷 Always fun to be able to explore it in our Interior Design projects.

We are slowly working through this stunning apartment with a magical harbour view as our backdrop.

Metallic golden hues in the corridors of our client's Day Spa.
By installing commercial matte gold vinyl wallcovering, we created a very special atmosphere for the Day Spa's clientele. By specifying a heavy wear, easy clean finish wallcovering for our client spaces, the end result is functionality combined with beauty.
Our lovely joiner made our simple custom designed candle wall holders. We used LED pillar candles that flicker against the metallic walls.
Music and aromatherapy add to the whole experience of your visit to this interior.
Definitely a Zen moment! 🙏🏻

Can't believe that 8 years ago, I worked on this exciting exhibition celebrating 50 years in the hairdressing industry, for my lovely friend and talented client .
One of the fastest bump in and bump out events I've worked on...it was seamless!
The exhibition at the old Marquee Nightclub at Star City Casino, was designed to recreate Sharon's hair images from her many past & present campaigns and bring the real live models out of their photos and into exhibition space.
Sharon even recreated her amazing wig, that was originally made for a photo shoot.
What most people didn't know, was that for the original shoot, the wig was only seen from the front. Sharon made the wig in 3D for the night, to allow the model to be viewed at all angles.
50 years of Sharon's work was presented to industry colleagues and friends, in an exciting exhibition. A total feast for the senses!!
Flowers, yellow Dancing Lady orchids, filled vases in the bar party space. The evening ended with the models jumping out of their photos and parading on stage, where Sharon was honoured as a leading hairdresser and educator.
Thank you Sharon for giving me this opportunity, it was so much fun and being able to work and design your many salons for ver the past 30+ years.

DISPLAYS and DETAILS are often about the items that ‘speak to you, hold sentiment or you just love. They don’t need to be a designer item or expensive.
Group together items that tell a story, add balance with colours or materials that theme or blend, arrange your groups with different shapes, sizes or styles that harmonise as a story…love these displays everyday and when they don’t, change them or rearrange..
Remember have FUN!

Fortunate to stay at recently renovated Old Treasury Building now Intercontinental Hotel Sydney. Such a sympathetic historic refurbishment and interior design, using beautiful green marble, grey & white marble mosaics and soft blues. All colours taking their theme from Sydney Harbour.

Sometimes it takes time to find just the right artwork…..
The renovation design closed off a separate toilet doorway and the wall between the wc and existing bathroom was removed, leaving the perfect space for a large shower to be located. Once the doorway was closed off, we had a blank wall to play with.
A Statement Artwork was the answer !
