Quincey Cottage Whitby update...

A well knackered cat tonight after a long day. Sliding sash Georgian wooden windows all freed and working,

3 sanded and prepped inside and out but oh boy, this is some job.

Panic stations as building storage either side of chimney breasts in both bedrooms and prepping for painting because as a kn****ad of the highest order I've got bedroom furniture ie new beds etc being delivered on Tuesday...

Oh, and did I mention the lounge and diner, no?

OK, I've got new sofas and dining furniture being delivered by another company on Tuesday too and have I started decorating in there yet, nope....ffs get yer finger out!

No pressure pussycat, you got this...not!

And there's the WSW admin, all in hand...and new ideas that wake me up I've been working on, in particular for Bridlington and Regatta next year!

And a Kiln Cottage Whitby changeover on Saturday, and again on Monday too...I love keeping busy lol!

Anyways, enough about me and more about you guys, have a great Bank Holiday weekend folks, whatever you are doing please enjoy and have fun!

Quincey Cottage Whitby, I am in you...

Quincey Cottage Whitby is c.1750 property and a very charming retreat retaining original features such as exposed beams offering an authentic stay in this whimsical coastal town steeped in history.

Located just off Church Street at the start of the cobbles opposite the old coaching inn The White Horse & Griffin, you are surrounded by history, independent shops, cosy cafes, and quaint old-world pubs.

Despite being in the midst of Whitby’s bustling attractions, Quincey Cottage Whitby offers a tranquil escape on Ellerby Lane, and it is named the owners little black rescue terrier Quincey, who in turn was named after Quincey P. Morris, one of the heroic characters in Bram Stoker’s Dracula, which was famously set in Whitby.

Recently purchased and updated, it is furnished to a high standard mixing contemporary with traditional creating a lovely relaxed environment to enjoy during your stay.

On the ground floor, you’re welcomed into an open-plan living area, featuring two comfortable sofas around a cosy gas fire and a dining table perfect for intimate meals.

The adjoining kitchen is well-equipped and overlooks a small, enclosed courtyard with outdoor seating and an outhouse ideal for storing beach gear like buckets, spades, paddle boards, and bodyboards – it is perfect for a short stroll to the beach!

Upstairs, the first floor hosts a double bedroom with large built-in wardrobes for all your belongings, there is also a shower room on this floor.

The second floor features another double bedroom with a super king size bed nestled under the eaves, offering a cosy and peaceful retreat.

Whitby is a town rich in history and culture. The iconic Whitby Abbey perched high on the cliffs, inspired the setting for Dracula and offers breathtaking views after climbing the famous 199 steps.

The East Side and Old Town has inspired visitors, artists, and writers for over 1500 years and are probably most famously featured in Bram Stoker’s Gothic novel "Dracula".

Just imagine being where Stoker immortalized the black hound escaping up the 199 steps from the ship-wrecked Demeter on Tate Hill Sands up to St. Marys and Whitby Abbey, all on the doorstep of Quincey Cottage Whitby!

Just around the corner from Quincey Cottage Whitby, through the Market Place you have the picturesque Henrietta Street and the home of Fortune’s Smokehouse and their famous kippers, and just a little further along reveals a stunning vista of the harbour and piers which stand proud guarding the entrance of the River Esk and the ancient port of Whitby.

Whitby Harbour is steeped in history, and visitors can see where British Explorer Captain James Cook first worked as an Apprentice before setting sail and discovering Australia. The Captain Cook Museum is situated on Grape Lane and less than 2 min walk from Quincey Cottage Whitby.

A Statue of this Great Explorer stands proudly above the Town along with the Whale bones on the West Cliff, a testament to the Town’s maritime whaling history.

Throughout the year Whitby hosts a variety of unique events, including the biannual Goth, biannual Steampunk weekends, and folk and pirate weekends amongst others, as well as the annual famous Whitby Regatta, making it a vibrant and captivating destination for all.

Please note:
No smoking or va**ng allowed in property.
No stag or hen parties.
Quincey Cottage Whitby is not suitable for families with infants and young children. There are no facilities provided.

Quincey Cottage Whitby Update...

Following on from my previous post about bloody shopping, yes, you've guessed it the floppy hair, exotic shirts and flowery prose became dominant yesterday as M'Lady literally forced me into looking for more bloody furniture...beds this time.

After much haranguing...a brainwave. The beds at Kiln Cottage Whitby are always getting mentions from our fab guest reviews on size, comfiness and quality so we head to where we bought them and guess what, we ordered what we got at Kiln Cottage...result!

1 x Super King and 1 x Double ordered and boy they are comfy too...thank you Jayne at Dreams Stockton for looking after M'Lady and I, you are a flipping star and your coffee is rather good too!

So this week, we've ripped out wardrobes, cleaned gutters, got sash windows working again, repaired front door (waiting for planning permission to change this and front windows), ordered new blinds, wall mounted headboards and bedside cabinets, and now looking for new radiators.

Also in the diary, and I've been putting it off until the screaming shouting sticky fingered snotbots go back to school...the dreaded IKEA visit!

Anyways Liza Tarbuck's on the radio and I've prattled on long enough so I'm off for a really good Appassimento and a rub down with a damp, nay moist flannel!

Have a great weekend,
Andy at QCW HQ

Quincey Cottage Whitby Update!

Long and tedious day yesterday shopping for new furniture, (every blokes dream day I'm sure) losing the will to go on at one point until that shining beacon of light appeared in the distance, well Teesside Park anyway...Barker and Stonehouse oh how I love you!

My inner Laurence Llewellyn Bowen suddenly appeared and p**f...

2 x Sofas - check!
Dining Table - check!
Dining Chairs - check!

A busy few weeks coming up with redecorating etc before the furniture is delivered at end of August.

At least the new business cards have arrived...now to look for new beds, oh and soft furnishings too (perhaps a tasseled cushion or two...!)

Just a few of the 'before' images...looks good doesn't it!
