Island Markets and Food Vibes

Island Markets and Food Vibes Our tours are led by internationally acclaimed Barbadian chef Michael Harrison, a master chef with over two decades experience ... You simply have to!

The tour touches several parishes, giving you a true picture of Barbados from its World-rated beaches to the historic Bridgetown Parliament and Garrison, now famously certified as a World Heritage site, and the bustling Cheapside Market, where you will feast on traditional meals prepared with fresh, locally grown produce and fruit drinks you have to taste to believe- ever had a cold sorrel drink?

Ever tasted mauby, cane juice or sour sop punch? Spend some time at the Bridgetown Fish Market, where you can see vendors plying their trade, and hear Barbados’ accent, made globally famous by iconic music sensation Rihanna, at its best. Expert Judy Sobers will show you just how fish is prepared after being delivered to the market by the colourful boasts which dock there, and who knows, you may even get to stroll on the dock and take photos of this beautiful, culturally significant hot spot. The tour also traverses rural Barbados, taking you to Gun Hill Signal Station- a fort once used to peruse the expanse of the island in times when the British believed that Bim, as Barbados is affectionately known, was under threat from invasion by other major European nations eager to claim islands within the Caribbean archipelago. Country View Bar (St. George) which boasts spectacular views is one of our key stops on the tour, where you can sample ice-cold Banks Beer and nibble on freshly prepared breadfruit chips, an island favourite. Another major stop is the wildly popular Lemon Arbor Village Bar (St. John), where you can try Barbados’ first-class rum, which is known to be among the World’s oldest and absolute best. You will surely will be tempted to lick your fingers (why not- go right ahead) after delving into barbeque pig tails, rice and peas, macaroni pie and other specialties prepared in the Bajan way. The rugged terrain of the island’s rural districts will take your breath away with some of the best views money can buy, while coasting through miles and miles of lush sugar cane plantations, with villages and friendly smiling faces dotting the expansive and beautifully preserved Bajan countryside. Simply put- your selfies will be the envy of your friends after this experience!
