The Great Buddha Dordenma is a massive statue of Shakyamuni Buddha located in the mountains of Bhutan, overlooking the city of Thimphu. The statue stands at a height of 54 meters (177 feet) and is made of bronze and gilded in gold.

Construction of the statue began in 2006, as a tribute to the 60th anniversary of the fourth king of Bhutan, Jigme Singye Wangchuck. The project was funded by both the Bhutanese government and private donations, and it took nearly 10 years to complete.

The statue is located on a hilltop in Kuenselphodrang, a forested area just outside of Thimphu. Visitors can reach the statue by hiking up a series of steps or by driving up the winding road that leads to the base of the statue.

In addition to being a major tourist attraction, the Great Buddha Dordenma is also a place of worship for Bhutanese Buddhists. Inside the statue, there are 125,000 smaller statues of Buddha, as well as several large prayer wheels. The statue is also surrounded by beautiful gardens and offers stunning views of the surrounding mountains and valleys.

Overall, the Great Buddha Dordenma is a symbol of Bhutan's deep connection to Buddhism and its commitment to preserving its cultural heritage.

The Druk Wangyal Khang Zhang Chortens are a significant landmark in Bhutan and a popular tourist attraction. They were built in 2004 to honor the Bhutanese soldiers who lost their lives in the December 2003 battle against Indian insurgents. The 108 chortens are arranged in a circular pattern and are surrounded by prayer flags.

The chortens are designed in a traditional Bhutanese style and are painted in alternating white and red colors. The white color represents purity, while the red color symbolizes the blood of the soldiers who died in battle. Each chorten contains a statue of Guru Rinpoche, also known as Padmasambhava, who is considered the founder of Tibetan Buddhism.

Located on a small hillock below the Dochu La Pass, the chortens offer panoramic views of the surrounding mountains and valleys. Visitors can hike up to the chortens or drive up to the nearby parking area. The area is also a popular spot for picnics and relaxation.

In addition to the chortens, the Dochu La Pass is also home to the Druk Wangyal Lhakhang temple, which was built at the same time as the chortens. The temple is dedicated to the Fourth King of Bhutan and contains statues and paintings related to his reign. Overall, the Druk Wangyal Khang Zhang Chortens and the Dochu La Pass are a must-visit destination for anyone traveling to Bhutan.
