The Tourism Council of Bhutan is happy to share the Center for Promotion of imports from Developing Countries (CBI), Netherlands is offering free online session on “How to be a successful tourism company online” on 8th & 15th September 2020.

The online sessions will discuss on strategies to ensure a successful online presence and how to get noticed online. It will include on how to use social media and Google to promote business.

In this regard the Tourism Council of Bhutan would like to inform all the interested tour operators to kindly participate in the discussions.

Snowman Race 2020 welcomes, Michael Wardian of Washington DC, USA

21) MICHAEL WARDIAN - International Athlete
International Ship Broker, Potomac Maritime LLC, Washington DC.

Wardian is an international ship broker for Potomac Maritime, LLC and and endurance athlete with a focus on marathons and ultra marathons. Michael has completed over 300 marathons and 100 ultra marathons on all seven continents and the North Pole. Michael has set Guinness World Records, won medals for team USA in the 50K and 100K World Championships, major big city marathons and completed and won some of difficult and the most prestigious marathons and ultra marathons around the world.

So far in 2020, Michael has won the first ever trail race in Saudi Arabia the Eco Trail AlUla, was the bronze medalist at the United States Track and Field 50 Kilometer National Championships and Master's National Champion and won the Redeye 50K. In 2019, Wardian ran over 1000 Kilometers in races and 53 events in 2019, including setting the Guinness World Record for 10 Marathons in 10 Days and also winning the World Marathon Challenge which is 7 marathons in 7 days on 7 continents. Michael also set the Fastest Known Time for running across the entire country of Israel 1019 Kilometers in 10 days and has the fastest marathon time ever run in Antarctica.

Snowman Race 2020 is excited to welcome Jon Sabes .sabes

Jon is a passionate entrepreneur who finds solace within movement through nature. The passion to move outdoors has led Jon to complete numerous ultra-distance events, including ironman triathlons, organized trail runs, open water swims, overland bike rides, and mountain treks. For Jon, ultra-distance movement represents an opportunity to experience both internal introspection through active meditation during extended periods outdoors and external fitness testing that comes from physically demanding endurance events.

Beyond staying active and raising three children with his wife Kristine, Jon is an entrepreneur and founder of FOXO BioScience. FOXO is commercializing epigenetic technology using supervised machine learning tools to better understand human health, wellness, and lifespan. Molecular biology is the foundation of life. By creating tools and applications that result in a better scientific understanding of genetic expression, Jon seeks to leave a lasting positive impact on human health and wellness.

16) CLAIR PERKS - International Athlete

Calgary, Alberta, Canada

Snowman Race 2020 welcome Canadian athlete, Claire Perks.

Claire was born and raised on a ranch in southwest Alberta, Canada. She was on her feet every day running around with her horses or playing on foot. That has transpired into becoming an athlete that loves long distances and big challenges. She was a competitive swimmer from 8yrs old to 21 and was the national champion for 10km open-water swim at 19. She has competed in Adventure Racing for many years which has taken her coast to coast across Mexico, New Zealand and Madeira and across grand landscapes in the USA and Canada.

With that multi-day, sleep deprivation experience she moved into Ultra running. Her first race out was Tor Des Geants in Italy and she was hooked. She has completed and placed in long 300km+ Ultras all over the World. Currently Claire lives with her husband Michael south of Calgary, Alberta, Canada on their own little slice of heaven. As artist and brain monkey they run 'Little Monkey Metal Works', an artistic metal fabrication company with art and statues all over North America. Her other passion is riding and racing horses. In 2019 she raced her horse Harvey Mushman in the women's sidesaddle at the world-renowned Calgary Stampede and won!

14) PHILIPP MOSIMANN – International Athlete / Founding Partner/ Director of Happiness, Snowman Race
London, United Kingdom

Snowman Race is proud to welcome International Athlete and Founding Partner, Philipp Mosimann.

Philipp started running in cross country races at 7 years old and went on to Captain his School Cross Country and Athletics Teams. Running his first marathon at 20 years old in Lausanne and has since completed over 20. In 2003, he ran his first 250km Ultra Marathon at the inaugural RTP Gobi Desert in 2003, thereafter completing the same Ultras in Atacama, Sahara, Vietnam, Namibia and Nepal. He then went on to complete the UTMB twice In 2014 & 2015 and is greatly looking forward to competing in Bhutan.

Philipp is Managing Director for Mosimann’s Private Dining Club & Events Catering based in London, having catered for the Royal Weddings of both Princes’ William and Harry and for previous 6 Olympics Games with Tokyo 2020 and Dubai Expo 2020 to come. He has three children all schooled in the UK currently. Making people “happy” through food and service is his daily passion.

13) IAN MORGAN - International Athlete/ Former businessman turned ultra running nomad. Originally from New Zealand, currently residing in Chile

Snowman Race 2020 welcomes our 13th international athlete, Ian Morgan .morgan.

Ian found a passion for running around 6 years ago after many years of inactivity. Starting
with 5 km races, he progressed quickly up to half marathons, then marathons, and
eventually, ultra distance events.This is where he discovered his true calling, and made the decision to go all in, changing his lifestyle, and traveling the world taking on new and exciting challenges.

He has run in some pretty awesome places, from the deserts of the Middle East to the Andes. The Italian alps to the streets of Boston. Through tropical rainforests to the glaciers of Patagonia. And many other beautiful destinations in between.
He also met his partner Fran Gonzalez (An ex school principal, and now a full time world traveling ultra runner) in Italy, and they currently live in Santiago next to the Chilean Andes. After giving up his careers as an auto engineer, manager, and owning various property businesses, he has sold just about everything he owned, and now spend his time planning adventures and exploring this amazing world we live in.

11) MATTHIAS KASTNER – International Athlete
Basel City, Switzerland.

Snowman Race 2020 welcomes the Swiss Athlete Matthias Kastner.

Back in the late 1980s in Germany, Matthias started to run in secondary school when his talent for sprint was discovered. But mainly he trained short and middle distances to get faster with more endurance for this main sport football.

In football he gained several championships with his juniors teams. But when he left his hometown for the studies he also left football behind and started to run longer distances. In June 1999 when his daughter was born, he decided to finish a marathon the same year. Just four month later and better trained in changing diapers than running he finished the marathon for the first time.

Over the next 20+ years, he prepared better in his new home country, Switzerland. He started to run in the mountains and left tracks and cities entirely behind. Over all these years he ran many races from ultra sky to 100k trail competitions. He also finished several multi-day stage races in trail running and mountain-biking. In addition to running, Matthias loves to hike and explore the European Alps with his little family.Travel and business brought them together with interesting people in beautiful countries like New Zealand, South Africa, Chile, India, Canada and the USA as well as Malaysia, Vietnam, Thailand, Myanmar and Laos to discover the most beautiful landscapes in Patagonia, Sichuan and the Western Cape. As far as work he enjoys his job as Head of a Clinical Drugs manufacturing plant at Novartis Pharma, a multinational healthcare company with his headquarters in the northwestern part of Switzerland.

10) Kah Shin LEOW - International Athlete / Founding Partner/ Managing Director, Quantedge Capital
Singapore

Snowman Race is excited to welcome our 10th International Runner, Kah Shin. Kah Shin is one of the 5 founding participants of Snowman Race.

Kah Shin is an experienced endurance athlete with an extensive resume including multiple 250km stage race finishes. Additionally, in 2018 Kah Shin became the first
Singaporean to complete the Double High, back-to-back summits of Everest and Lhotse (4th highest mountain in the world) within 24 hours.

Kah Shin is an investment manager and the co-founder of the macro hedge fund,
Quantedge Capital. Kah Shin is committed to philanthropy on a global scale and
looking forward to participating in the Snowman Race 2020.

12) DAVID MENDELSOHN - International Athlete / Founding Partner, Managing Partner Jingzhu International Garments Co. LTD (China) Founding Member on Sustainability, Renewable Director of Snowman Race

Snowman Race 2020 is proud to welcome, International Athlete and Founding Partner,

David started with various grass roots sports, such as Swimming, Rugby, Basketball, Cricket, Karate, Skiing and running (short distances) which he was training for the Sydney Olympics. He’s continued his sporting hobbies whilst juggling family and work, picking up rock climbing, go carting and Horse Polo with his Daughter. David started at the end of 2019 his foray into long distance running and was in the line up of 50 people, to run in the Ultra X 250km 5 day run back-to-back in Sri Lanka in March 2020 (First Ultramarathon), unfortunately due to Covid-19 the race was called off.

David has a uncanny approach to his entrepreneurial start in life from a very young age he was selling lemons and limes which he grabbed off the neighbours tree and sold them to the local restaurants down from his house. This kick started his career where at the age of 19, he moved to China, Ningbo city to start trading varies hard goods and soft goods to the western countries. Later investing into a garment factory, he co-built the factory with his Taiwanese partner, producing for Licensee’s and O.E.M’s in the sporting fields such as Puma, Adidas Group, Formula 1, Formula E, MotoGP, Jaguar, Ducati, Bentley, Lamborghini, NBA, NFL, MLB & outfitted the Swiss Olympic Team in 2008 Beijing Olympics.

The Snowman Race is not only important to raise awareness for the Climate Change Initiative, but to be part of his yearly goals with NEW challenges in life and inspire his children.
Bhutan has a small part in his heart which he has visited numerous times, and seems to be drawn back to the country, people and concept of Gross National Happiness.
