PUBLIC NOTICE - REGISTRATION OF PLANT AND EQUIPMENT OWNED BY CITIZEN COMPANIES PER DISTRICT FOR INCLUSION INTO THE DATABASE

The Ministry of Transport and Public Works wishes to invite citizen companies based in Botswana to submit profiles for the purposes of creating construction plant and equipment database per district.

The requirements for registration are as follows;

a) Registered with Public Procurement Regulatory Authority (PPRA).
b) Cover Letter (on company letter head detailing addresses and contacts addressed to Director, Road Infrustructure Development and Maintenance.
c) Valid Company Extract from Companies and Intellectual Property Authority (C**A).
d) Certified copies of Identity Card (Omang) for Directors and Shareholders.
e) Valid Tax Clearance Certificate
f) Certified Plant Registration Book by Department of Road Transport Services (DRTS) to confirm ownership.
g) Commitment Letter of locality of Plant and Equipment authenticated by Commissioner of Oaths.

The registration should include the following plant and equipment; Excavators, Front End loaders, JCB/Backhoe Loaders, Water Bowsers, Motor Graders, Rollers, Tippper Trucks, Road Marking Machine etc.

Interested companies are to submit documents at any of Road Infrastructure Development and Maintenance offices (formely Roads Department) across the country cleary marked ‘REGISTRATION OF PLANT AND EQUIPMENT PRIVATE CITIZEN COMPANIES’.

Registration will be done with effect from 13th November 2023 until 31st December 2023 during working hours from Monday to Friday.

Children will engage in a mock parliament to propose solutions and ideas with emphasis on the importance of involving children and young people in the decision-making process.

THE ZEBRAS TECHNICAL TEAM ANNOUNCED

Botswana Football Association has appointed Kaelo Kaelo and Pontsho Moloi as the assistant coaches of the senior men's national team “The Zebras”. Motswadi Motswadi has been appointed as the goalkeeper coach while Tshephang Mokaila will do his role as the physical trainer.

The quartet is assigned where the team is currently preparing for the 2026 FIFA World cup CAF qualifiers next week against Mozambique and Guinea.

GOVERNMENT EMPLOYEES MOTOR VEHICLE AND RESIDENTIAL PROPERTY ADVANCE SCHEME (GEMVAS)

The Government Employees Motor Vehicle and Residential Property Advance Scheme (GEMVAS) was established in 1988 under Section seven (7) of the General Orders. The Scheme is made possible by and through the provision of an 80% guarantee, by the Government of Botswana to participating lenders.
The guarantee provides security against default by borrowers and salary deductions are done at source.
Applications are processed at Gaborone, Maun, Palapye and Francistown.
AON Botswana (Pty) Ltd has been contracted for the provision of Management Services for the Guaranteed Loans Insurance Fund (GLIF). This is a self-insurance Fund for Government Employees advances for motor vehicles & residential properties.

Residential Property Advance Scheme

MAIN CONDITIONS
• Repayment period up to 20 years.
• Prevailing prime lending rate used.
• Permanent and Pensionable or local officers on contracts with a minimum of 24 months left to run.
• Married officers may apply together.
• A maximum of 2 loans/properties are allowed during one’s entire public service.
• Residential properties can be acquired anywhere in Botswana.

LOAN UTLILISATION
• Purchase of a free-hold plot/house for residential purposes.
• Er****on of house on a plot owned by the officer.
• Renovations of existing structures (residential)
• Top-up of existing loan.
• Re-financing of mortgage loan.

Important Tips:
• Residential Property not to be used for commercial purposes.
• Please value your property periodically and adjust your insurance premiums accordingly.
• Please solicit quotations for bill of quantities from experienced and reputable entities/individuals.
• Once the loan is fully paid, take steps to get the bond released.
• Always obtain Title deed for your plot once allocated.
• Married officers should provide marriage certificate and consent letter from spouse.
