Saw The Boss on Bow Valley Parkway on Thursday and Friday (but not Saturday) and on both days, people were out of their cars putting themselves and The Boss at risk.

He was out again on Sunday but thankfully, Parks Canada now has someone there to ensure that (a) nobody parks on the closer side of the road and (b) everybody stays in their vehicles.

After making sure it was OK with her, we did a slow drive by (rather than making a U-turn to park on the far side then having to make another U-turn when we were done) so my guests could take photos.

Back when I was in corporate food service, I had multiple Vendor and/or Client meetings about "reusable" programs that would allow restaurants to serve To Go food in permanent dishware/containers that Guests would later return.

None of the proposed plans ever came to fruition so imagine my pleasure at discovering that The Town of Banff has engaged with a service that allows local coffee shops to loan Guests reusable coffee cups!

Only two shops have signed up thus far but, after downloading the Muuse app and providing a Debit or Credit Card #, the cups are free and "signed out" via QR Code. As long as the cup's returned to any of the participating stores within 30 days, there's no charge made to yiur card.

Koodos to Little Wild and Wild Flour for being the pioneers of this waste reduction effort and koodos to Banff for financially helping get this off the ground.

Please don't be "that 4x4 guy".

Yesterday at Lake Minnewanka I saw a small truck and two Jeeps squeeze out through this gap in the fence line between the Jersey Barrier and the sign frame (they had to use a spotter to do it safely) after they'd apparently done some 4x4 driving in the restricted ecosystem area.

Called it into Parks Dispatch later in the day (poor cell signal at Minnewanka about 1/3 of the time in my experience) and they were going to send a Warden out to look into putting a large rock in the open space to prevent it happening again.

I've always felt that the higher the energy and interaction level of the tour Guests, the easier and more fun it is for me to be high energy and entertaining all day.

Under this gregariously easy-going facade lives a grumpy introvert and when the tour Guests are withdrawn, quiet, or distracted by their phones, it often takes more spoons than I normally have to stay "up" and try to give them their money's worth.

Todays group includes 11 cast & crew members from "Bluey's Big Play 🐾 " (Dec 27 - 30 at the Jubilee) and they're so high energy that I might as well be back driving a school bus full of Junior High School kids spun out on Halloween candy.

It's absolutely freaking glorious!

A couple of inches of fresh snow last night made for very messy (and of-times slow) roads from Calgary to Banff this morning.

Ford Transit started out with a full windshield washer system (it holds an entire 3.78 jug worth) and I was getting a "Low Fluid" alert by the time we reached Two Jack Lake.

Had a special Guest on our tour yesterday.

"Mr. Gray" is a four year old Cockapoo who joined us all the way from Indonesia* and he was a very well behaved 'good boy'.

*By way of Vancouver BC where his human has been attending UBC for the last four months.

At Lake Louise in Banff National Park and because the air is pretty still right now (finding it hard to believe that it's actually -8° C w/wind chill right now) I skipped wearing a coat when I walked my Tour Guests down to the lake.

As a result, the walk back to the van (when I wasn't in obvious Tour Guide mode monologing to my Guests) will probably be one of my more photographed days thus far this Winter.

The more bundled up the person was, the heavier the new* parka they were wearing was, the higher the odds that they either surreptitiously (so they thought) took my photo or outright stopped me and asked if they could pose for a photo with me.

*Note to self: Consider investing in Columbia as that appears to be the #1 brand of Winter wear that Tourists from warmer climates purchase as soon as they get here!

Another day of living the dream as a Tour Guide / Driver working between Calgary (home base), Banff (almost daily destination), and Jasper.

Currently enjoying my first coffee of the day at Two Jack Lake while keeping an eye on my Guests from my perch halfway down the path to the beach.

Almost no wind today so the lake is like a giant mirror and I'm afraid that these phone pictures don't do this stunning beauty the justice it deserves.
