2017 is the year to kick off this inaugural derby as the Pacific Salmon Foundation is celebrating its 30th Anniversary featuring many milestones reached over the last three decades through dedicated donors, volunteers and partners, including some significant investment in the Comox-area. "The Comox Valley is home to a vibrant salmon community that the Pacific Salmon Foundation is proud to support," said Dr. Brian Riddell, CEO and president of the Pacific Salmon Foundation. "Since 1989, the Foundation has provided grants of more than $1.4 million to the dedicated volunteers that enhance stocks and conserve habitat in the area. Those funds were raised through our annual fundraising dinner in Comox, generous donors and events like this one which connect users of the resource with its restoration. Investors Group has been a strong supporter of the Foundation and its efforts in Comox, we're grateful to be a beneficiary of this great event”. The $1.4 million supported 142 projects with a total value of $6.6 million, because community grantees use Foundation grants to inspire matching funds and in-kind donations from the community. Investors Group has been a supporter of the foundation for over 10 years and is looking forward to the release of the special edition of the Salmon Steward Magazine coming out in May. The Pacific Salmon Foundation (established in 1987) is a charitable organization whose mission is to protect, conserve and restore wild Pacific salmon population in BC and the Yukon. The Royal Canadian Marine Search and Rescue local station has been operating for well over 35 years and has a local volunteer base of 60 members who are on call 24-7, 52 weeks of the year.
