"Newfoundland and Labrador is one of the best places in the world to see icebergs.
From April to August, these 10,000-year-old glacial giants are visible from many points along the northern and eastern coasts.
Iceberg Alley stretches from the coast of Labrador to the southeast coast of the island of Newfoundland. Some of the more popular places from shore, or from tour boats, are (from north to south): St. Lewis, Battle Harbour, Red Bay, Point Amour, St. Anthony, La Scie, Twillingate, Fogo Island, Change Islands, Bonavista, St. John's / Cape Spear, and Bay Bulls / Witless Bay. All of these locations are accessible by road. The first four, which are on the coast of southern Labrador, can be accessed by car ferry from the island of Newfoundland year round. The further north, the longer the iceberg season."

COD "Fish-Proud"

Whale Articulation Project

David Boyd of Prime Berth is articulating a whale. No, he's not copying whale sounds - he's un******ng the whale down to its bare white bones to hopefully display it at his wonderful tourist attraction in beautiful Twillingate.

Boyd found the dead whale washed up on Trump Island in Notre Dame Bay last year and dragged it home and buried it. Boyd and his wife Christine have been busy this fall cleaning up the sei whale. He explains:

"Might not be “ museum quality “ as the whale guy in town predicted , but not a lot of individuals, by their own efforts, have cleaned and eventually articulated, not one , but 2 Sei whales, the only such in Canada. Pretty pleased with the way this on is coming along and should be an addition to the “ Twillingate attractions” in 2018!

Way to go Christine and David for investing time and passion into this project so that residents and tourists alike can enjoy the rare opportunity to view a wild, ocean-dwelling animal not often seen; and for turning the tragic death of a whale into an educational opportunity.

The second photo below is the first sei whale that David and Christine articulated and is already on displayed at "Prime Berth". It is much larger than the current whale.
