Kylie Hutchinson, BSc, CE, principal consultant with Community Solutions, combines her formal education and expertise in program evaluation and program sustainability assessment planning with thirty years experience working in both the not-for-profit and public sector as a consultant, trainer, program manager, board member, and volunteer. Kylie has conducted dozens of evaluations varying in scope

and complexity that have yielded timely, relevant, and actionable recommendations for her clients. She has worked both domestically and internationally for a wide variety of organizations. Kylie also has a strong background in training and facilitation. She is well-known across North America for her popular webinars and workshops (see Praise) and is an innovative and engaging public speaker. From 2005 to 2011 she delivered the Canadian Evaluation Society's Essential Skills Series in British Columbia and has developed an eLearning module in evaluation for the Public Health Agency of Canada. She holds a diploma in Instructional Design and is a former instructor at the Justice Institute of British Columbia's Instructor Development Program where she taught courses in instructional design, instructional assessment, evaluating training programs, and conducting needs assessments. In 2016 she published the guidebook for nonprofits, Survive and Thrive: Three Steps to Securing Your Program's Sustainability. Another area of interest is designing practical tools and resources for evaluators and not-for-profits. She is currently developing a mobile learning app in evaluation for senior decision-makers, a multi-lingual version of the popular Evaluation Glossary Mobile App, a short primer on effective evaluation reporting, and a multi-authored collection of lessons from evaluation mistakes. Prior to founding Community Solutions, Kylie managed an employment-training program for the Immigrant Services Society of BC, worked as Development Manager for the Evergreen Foundation, and conducted research for the Institute for Risk Research, Health Canada Bureau of Communicable Disease Epidemiology, and the Metropolitan Toronto District Health Council. In 2000 she published the guidebook, Getting it Together: Collaboration Models for Community Groups, which has been used by organizations around North America. Kylie is a member of the American Evaluation Association and Canadian Evaluation Society and adheres to the CES Guidelines for Ethical Conduct and Program Evaluation Standards. In 2011 she received her Credentialed Evaluator designation from the Canadian Evaluation Society which means she has provided evidence of the education and experience required to be a competent evaluator. In 1990 she also received an award from the Canadian Evaluation Society for an evaluation framework she developed for the Heart & Stroke Foundation of Ontario. She is a regular pre-conference workshop presenter at the American Evaluation Association's annual conference and Summer Evaluation Institute and tweets her insights weekly at . She is on the volunteer organizing committee of the Systems in Evaluation (Un)Conference and also on the Advisory Board of AEA's Potent Presentations Initiative. Kylie lives near Vancouver, BC, Canada with her husband, young daughter, aging Lab, and fish.
