There is a reason why some project take a long time. This conversion Dnepr/ Bmw /Ural is something that many have done, You can read some treads on adventure rider and Soviet steed. Eckhard in Midland has help me with the ural gear box mod. However there is a lot that needs fabricating and modifying. So here I am ... again ... taking stuff apart because it did not work. Grrr!! So gearbox is out because the clutch rod was too short (5mm ) ( had to make a rod) to actuate the (disengage) the clutch. Back to the drawing board.

So... Montreal trip was great , saw many people that I have not seen for a long time ( 1990s). My cousin had a fantastic bday party. Was glad I attended.
Now for some technical stuff:
I replaced the rubber boot gearbox to driveshaft . Was not that easy. Also turns out the rear seal of the gearbox was leaking. Ordered seal and a paralever boot through Peterson Motorworks.
What a job!!
I had to remove the swingarm to remove the gearbox to install the new seal and boot. 2 days later I am done ( 1week for parts to arrive). Old fart mechanic

The old new project ( only 5 years in the making) Phase 1 is almost completed. Phase 2 is to restore the side car chair. Phase 3 is to attach the chair to the bike. The bike is a 1984 Dnepr (made in Ukraine) with a bmw r90/6 engine to a Ural gear box. Poor quality and workmanship (soviet era!!) ... but even if it is ugly it is very cool. So I drove to Pembroke on Hwy 60 through Algonquin Park in not great weather. Stayed in a hotel in Pembroke and went to an open mic across the street to play some of my tunes . Was interesting! I also found Noah's ark!! It is now a restaurant and lodge on Hwy 17!!
Well made it to my friend in St Donat . We had a wonderful evening of playing guitar and great conversation. Unloaded the beast ( she has no name) geared up. There is still ice on the lakes up there. Balmy 8c . Took the 117 to Mtl. Will not do that going back. I must of hit ALL the traffic lights. Usually its a 1hr 30min to get to my cousin. 4.5 hrs later!!!
Was going to see dad but it was too late , so going today. I will take pics.

So Back on the road. On my way to Mont-Tremblant then to St-Donat. I am hauling the side car to my friend then ride to Montreal to pick up my dad for a ride for his 90th birthday.

Well the party is over... Not really. Just got in Buenos Aires. Waiting for someone to open the door of the rental apartment. Beautiful old building in the centre of town.
Last night we had a parting party with again a Bbq and lots of wine and laughs

So we left Futrono Chile, crossed the border. There is 20km distance from the Chilean border ant the Argentinean border we were on the actual border line on top . Now in Villa la Angostura
Last part of our ride today .Back to Bariloche .

We are back in Chile. Rode through the national park , had a picnic and a swim. Got to the border house from the impassable road!! A logging road would be a hwy!!
