Mallorca Is Where I call Home
We moved to Mallorca 13 years ago and haven't looked back since. Sometimes we miss the states. Our family and friends the most. My wife tells a story about how she has never felt so at home as in Mallorca. We live in a small mountain village where she teaches English to the children of the village and dedicates a lot of her spare time volunteering at the dog shelter. We have fostered more than 30 dogs since arriving in Mallorca. If my wife was legally able to run for mayor, she already would of been elected. She is possibly the most known person in the village because of teaching english to the children here for the past 10 years and rescuing many stray and lost animals. We have had dogs and a goats left at our doorstep more than once. My wife Cheryl speaks Spanish and Goat. I'm serious.
Me on the other hand. I'm a little more self centered as I have been told most men are. But I am here for the rugged beauty and nature of this incredible island. The island gets waves almost year round. North, South, East or West you can find some killer Mediterranean surf. The canyons fill with water from October to May when we throw on our wetsuits and abseil down 100 ft waterfalls. The sport rock climbing is phenomenal and the free water soloing is second to none. Snorkeling on a clear, calm summer day is spectacular. Sailing and yachting is the best in the western med. The mountain biking is great if you know where to find it but the road cycling here in Mallorca is the best in the world, period! Those are the reasons why Cheryl and I are calling Mallorca home. Oh and our 5 dogs, 3 cats and 2 goats.
I'm a chef. A pretty good one at that. I´ve cooked all over Spain and Europe. I have made extensive contacts here in Mallorca for the past 13 years. I personally know estate owners, vineyard owners, tour operators, bike guides, restaurant owners, owners of yachts, where the heli pad is, the best paella or wine bar, best place to buy cheese or Jamon. Where to buy local produce or where to taste and see how they make olive oil. The best beaches, the best hidden bars, learn to make gin, the most challenging ride or a quick hike with the best views in Mallorca. I have learned all of this because this is what I do.
