Places to visit!

The LagOmar Museum, also know as Omar sharif's House, is one of Lanzarote's most enchanting buildings.

The house is built in an old volcanic rock quarry and formed around its natural caves, tunnels, and terraces. Every detail of LagOmar is carefully thought out and inspired by Lanzarote's landscapes; its materials include lava and wood from shipwrecks found off the island's coast.

The museum tour allows visitors to explore the caves housing the kitchen, bedrooms, and other living spaces. In the garden, the beautiful lake surrounded by palm trees and lush vegetation is a true oasis in the desert landscapes.

These days, Omar Sharif's house is much more than a museum: at sunset, the building comes to life and fills with people as it becomes one of the most spectacular restaurants on Lanzarote.

Places to Visit.

Las Grietas (The Cracks) of Lanzarote are a huge rock formation 600 meters high formed on the slope of the Montaña Blanca volcano.

This crack extends for about twenty meters through a narrow corridor of solidified lava to its final wall. Then you will have to turn around to get out!
These small canyons have been drilled in Montaña Blanca by the action of water over the years. There are three cracks in total separated by only a few meters between them. Which one more spectacular!

Las Grietas of Lanzarote are one of those unknown landscapes for mass tourism. Therefore, it is important that you pay attention to these indications because you will not find specific signage on the road:

Parking near by has been closed due to safety reasons access is now either by foot from Tias or park in Montana Blanca and walk to Las Grietas.

You can also climb up the side to the top of the lava tongue and see the cracks from above, behind the White Mountain (but watch out here because the sand can be slippery if you don’t wear the right shoes). From there you will also have incredible views of the island between Puerto del Carmen and Arrecife. Quite a spectacle!

The Mirador de Haría, is a spectacular viewpoint designed by Lanzarote artist César Manrique in 1966, it reopened its doors to the public in September 2021 after many years of closure.

The fusion of nature, art and architecture is enhanced by the addition of the spectacular glass-floored walkways, which afford impressive views of the stunning valleys below. While the architectural beauty of the building itself is noteworthy, the walkways are undoubtedly the main draw, attracting visitors with their unparalleled views and immersive experience.

The Mirador del Haría is located on the LZ10, the zig-zag mountain road heading down from Los Helechos road.

Admission is around€12, but visitors must travel by private vehicle and be aware that parking at the site is very limited and requires caution.

For those of you who prefer to stay local, how about a stroll to the 'Old Town of Puerto Del Carmen'

It is home to a beautiful little beach, a harbour that has an array of restaurants and bars and even has a rather good shopping centre called the Biosera, well worth a visit during your stay.

Did you know you can visit La Graciosa?

La Graciosa is a small island located off the northern tip of Lanzarote. With a population of just 600 people and no roads, the island is a demonstration of natural Canary Islands beauty.
The beaches here are silent, unexplored and crystal clear making them one of Lanzarote’s top attractions.
There are a small number of authentic waterside restaurants (mostly serve fresh fish) and ample landscapes to explore by bike or foot.

If this appeals to you whilst you are here please do pop down and ask reception who can help you plan your visit

⭐️⭐️Owners Spotlight⭐️⭐️

Today we have a testimonial from Steve and Jill Morpurgo about owning and holidaying at Las Calas.

Most of us at some time in our lives may be lucky enough to experience one or more 'light bulb' moments. A point in time when something unexpectedly clicks, becomes very clear and you 'just know'! Las Calas for us, was just such a 'light bulb' moment.

We first became aware of the resort about sixteen years ago when we exchanged our two timeshare weeks in Tenerife for two weeks at Las Calas. Having enjoyed the experience, the following year we decided to do the same thing and we were lucky enough to meet some lovely people. Whilst chatting to an owner, David Squires, we intimated that we really liked the friendliness, the general set up and feel of the place and would seriously think of buying a week or two (our light bulb moment had struck).

We were introduced to another owner who was selling two of his Floating weeks. We agreed a price and in no time the deal was done.

From 2010 onwards we have visited Calas at least once or twice a year every year (excluding Covid). We have rented weeks, purchased a couple of five-year deals because quite simply, two weeks are just not enough for us. We also rented two weeks for some friends who liked it so much, they decided to buy two weeks on the five-year deal.

Like other owners, we have visited at different times of the year and have made friends that we look forward to seeing and keep in touch with via social media.

For us, Las Calas has that certain something that other timeshare resorts we have experienced, seem to lack. It is a combination of the friendliness of people staying on site, the generous nature of the staff who always seem so happy to welcome us back and to whom nothing is too much trouble. A place where you know your children are safe as there are always 'eyes' looking out for their wellbeing. Then there's that 'moment' when you set foot in reception and feel that warmth and happiness of being back 'home'.

Las Calas will always be 'that place' where we experienced our 'light bulb' moment and we will be forever grateful.

If you would like to be in the owners spotlight, please send your experiences of Las Calas and a photo to [email protected]

Lanzarote is the ideal place for road trips, due to its mostly flat landscape and limited traffic.

Car hire in Lanzarote gives you the opportunity to explore the island at your own pace and find hidden treasures you may not see on an arranged tour.

If you are thinking about hiring a car during your stay, remember to bring your driving license and reception can arrange the car hire for you.

Lanzarote has drawn cyclists to its volcanic landscape for many years now and we think that it's one of the best cycling holidays if you want to avoid endless climbing.

So if you are an avid cyclist and think this could be for you, there are many bike hire companies available in Puerto Del Carmen.

Please ask reception for details.

Our Story

Looking for the most popular holiday resort in Lanzarote that’s near to Arrecife airport and ideal for families? Then look no further. Club Las Calas in Puerto del Carmen is the best self-catering family holiday resort on the island – and it’s just 15 minutes from the airport. Relax by the pool soaking up the year-round sunshine, enjoy the on-site leisure facilities and comfortable apartments and then head for nearby Puerto del Carmen for six kilometres of award-winning beaches, great water sports activities, bars, restaurants, shopping, and nightlife.

Divided into four areas, each with its own swimming pool and deck, Club Las Calas guests have a choice of two restaurants and bars serving food throughout the day and into the evening. There is happy hour followed by free live entertainment every night in Skyline and check out the nightly specials in Bistro 361. Can’t miss your Sunday roast? Then we offer a super roast dinner every Sunday - and we’re open to the public as well. Club Las Calas is easy and safe for those with mobility issues and young children with slopes and lifts giving access to the entire resort. However, please note that it can be quite a steep climb back up to the resort for those visiting Puerto del Carmen so we recommend a taxi for those who might find this a challenge.

Recently refurbished to a very high standard, the apartments are all fully-equipped for self-catering and have either a private terrace or balcony. Free wifi is available (and can be topped up for those looking to do more than check their emails or post to Facebook).

As well as four swimming pools, there is a leisure centre with a mini-market, gym and library - and one of the best kid’s clubs in the area. Check out our website for the latest schedule of events, times and charges.
